Setting and ReportingThe United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund was established in 1949 by the United Nations General Assembly to provide retirement, death, disability, and related benefits for staff of the United Nations and other member organizations of the Fund. This position is in the Enterprise Operations Section (EOS) of the Information Management Systems Service (IMSS) within the Fund Secretariat of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF). EOS is responsible for the provision of Information and Communication Technology Services, such as website, Database, Platform Services, network maintenance, desktop management, and application support. The incumbent reports to the Head of the Infrastructure Team, within EOS. ResponsibilitiesWithin delegated authority, the Information Systems Assistant may be responsible for the following duties: โ€ข Participates in the development, programming, testing, debugging and implementation of new application systems releases, modules and functionalities. โ€ข Develops, tests and implements simple computer application systems and programs using established standards for IT technologies, programming languages and tools. โ€ข Serves as team member in the planning, specification, design, development, implementation and support of computer application systems; independently liaises with users to define and specify requirements. โ€ข Installs computer application systems software and hardware according to specifications; monitors computer applications systems using appropriate monitoring tools and produces monitoring reports. โ€ข Prepares technical and user documentation for deployed computer application systems, as well as training materials and conducts technical presentations. โ€ข Maintains functional specifications for computer application systems, programs and procedures developed and/or modified. โ€ข Provides support for deployed computer application systems including version management, data recovery and deployment to usersโ€™ offices; performs ongoing reviews with users and developers and responds to users' requests. โ€ข Drafts correspondence and communications, including work plan revisions and other related issues, as well as prepares unit contributions for a variety of periodic reports. โ€ข Serves as focal point for coordination, monitoring and expedition of computer application systems development projects, involving extensive liaison with diverse organizational units to initiate requests; prepares standard terms of reference; processes and follows-up on administrative actions and resolves issues related to project implementation, e.g. organization of and participation in training, procurement of equipment and services, etc. โ€ข Keeps abreast of developments in the field; performs benchmarking and proposes new acquisitions. โ€ข Provides guidance to new/junior staff. โ€ข Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making. โ€ข Assists with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures. โ€ข Performs other duties as assigned. Work ExperienceA minimum of seven (7) years of experience in information systems such as Microsoft Azure Active Directory, Operating Systems administration (like Windows or Unix) systems administration and maintenance, software deployment and support, is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to five (5) for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher. Specific demonstrated experience with Amazon Web Services and Windows Desktop Management Systems (like Intune, O365 E5 or SCCM), is desirable. ITIL or ISO/IEC 20000 Foundation Certification is desirable. 1 year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required.
