The International Water Management Institute (IWMI), a CGIAR Research Center, is seeking applications from enthusiastic students who are looking to gain professional experience in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) under IWMI\u2019s internship program. The internship will be based at IWMI\u2019s headquarters in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Scope of internship
With IWMI growing rapidly, the demand for ICT support is increasing. During this internship, the ICT support intern will report to the Head of ICT. The intern will provide efficient and effective technical support services, which involve handling helpdesk inquiries and resolving first-level IT issues to ensure the smooth operation of IT systems within the organization. If the selected candidate demonstrates an ability to assist in existing support processes, they will develop a general understanding of the role of ICT, and gain exposure to working in a multicultural and multidisciplinary international organization.
During this internship, the intern will assist in the following areas:
Organizing and responding to helpdesk tickets in a timely and professional manner. Providing first-level support for IT issues including software, hardware and network problems. Collaborating with IT team members to solve complex issues. Assisting in implementing IT projects and upgrades. Providing support in setting up new equipment.Requirements
Bachelor\u2019s degree (or equivalent), in Information Technology, Computer Science, or any other related field, OR equivalent professional certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional). Previous training experience in an IT field or demonstrated technical know-how will be an added advantage. A good command of spoken and written English, as IWMI is an international organization. Strong problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of Personal Computers, common accessory hardware, modern Windows Desktop operating systems and the MS Office suite. Familiarity with Office 365/Microsoft 365 platforms, MacOS, Android and iOS.Benefits
IWMI will provide a monthly stipend to the selected candidate during the internship period.
The duration of the initial internship contract will be for 6 months with the possibility of extension for another 6 months based on performance, requirements of IWMI and the availability of funds. This is a nationally recruited internship and only citizens of Sri Lanka are eligible to apply.
