The Investment Operations Department is responsible for generating a portfolio of high quality, creditworthy, and environmentally and socially sound projects that result in significant development impact. The business cycle goes from the identification, selection, origination and execution of transactions to their monitoring. The Department follows a matrix model, with three Client Segment divisions covering Infrastructure and Energy, Financial Institutions and Corporates, and three transversal divisions: Financial Products and Services, Advisory Services Division and Portfolio Management.

The Financial Products and Services Division works closely with the Client Segment divisions to provide product-structuring expertise in the following broad range of products and services: blended finance, capital markets solutions, equity and mezzanine, trade and supply chain finance and resource mobilization. The selected candidate will work under the direct supervision of the Director of the Resource Mobilization team.

What you’ll do:

You will support the Resource Mobilization Team by owning the mobilization of assets in the Infrastructure and Energy segment through the various product offerings provided by IDB Invest, pricing of transactions, as well as developing and strengthening the relationship with the target investor base. Furthermore, you will work closely with other organizational divisions/teams of IDB Invest and IDB, as needed, to achieve coherence within the IDBG’s overall portfolio region wide.

The candidate’s main responsibilities include:

  • Lead in the syndication effort for the larger and most sophisticated transactions.
  • Participate in the pitching of new mobilization opportunities, and negotiations with borrowers and participating banks.
  • Build and maintain contacts and relationships with relevant banks and institutions covering the Latin American and Caribbean markets as well as with potential donors.
  • Ensure products build maximum opportunity for third party finance mobilization for infrastructure and energy transactions.
  • Follow transactions in the loan syndications and capital markets in order to identify trends and impacts that could affect IDB Invest mobilization and transaction structures.
  • Contribute to the management of IDB Invest’s portfolio of assets through secondary sales and the use of unfunded credit protection products.
  • Be accountable for the preparation of pricing analyses based on comparable transactions in the bank and capital markets.
  • Manage deal distribution process and ensure sell-down targets are realized.
  • Own the preparation of information memoranda, deal teasers, bank meeting presentations and documentation for allocated transactions.
  • Work closely with the Resource Mobilization team members to identify product needs that will serve to expand our investor base.

    What you'll need

    • Education: At least a Master’s, MBA, or equivalent in Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, International Development or another relevant field.
    • Experience: At least six (6) years of relevant experience implementing and performing transactions across a myriad of structure finance products and services in sophisticated organizations. Experience in the loan syndications and/or capital markets, preferably working in a commercial or investment bank environment, as well as the ability to build positive partnerships with key stakeholders across the bank. Language: Proficient (oral and written) in English and Spanish.

        Requirements

        • Citizenship: No requirements.
        • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

          Type of contract and duration

          • International: International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
