About this Position: We are looking for a highly qualified professional to supervise a portfolio of loans, bonds and guarantees to private sector and non-sovereign guaranteed financial institutions (banks, microfinance and specialized financial institutions), as well as support the Director Portfolio Financial Sector in the Portfolio Management Division with the coordination and monitoring of portfolio actions implemented by other Portfolio Management Officers in the Mexico, Central America and Caribbean region.

You will work in the Portfolio Management Division, Financial Institutions Segment, part of the Investment Operations (INO) Department, which team is responsible for managing and supervising the portfolio clients in this segment.

INO originates, structures, closes and manages/supervises transactions and projects, following a matrix model with three Segment Divisions covering Financial Institutions (Banks, Funds, and other Financial Intermediaries), Infrastructure and Energy (Transport, Energy, Water and Sanitation and Social Infrastructure), and Corporates (Agribusiness, Tourism, Manufacturing and Telecommunications, Media and Technology), as well as transversal areas such as Financial Products and Services and Portfolio Management (PTM). INO also incorporates two additional teams (Marketing, Commercial Communications and Commercial Strategy, and Planning and Resources) and is responsible for the advisory commitments with clients, in coordination with IDB Investโ€™s Department of Strategy and Development (DSP).

What You Will Do:

Manage ongoing relationship with clients, agents, B-lenders, co-lenders and other parties involved in assigned portfolio transactions to ensure proper supervision. Monitor periodic information, including trends in the global financial markets, country-specific economic situation and events, and industry / market / regulatory developments, to evaluate their impact on IDB Investโ€™s counterparts and portfolio. Conduct regular and ad-hoc analysis of financial statements and performance and prepare high-quality periodic supervision reports and risk rating proposals. Assess credit, integrity, environmental & social risk, and track and contribute to the development effectiveness standing of transactions under supervision. Ensure compliance with IDB Investโ€™s internal policies and guidelines by liaising closely with internal teams. Take proactive measures to protect IDB Investโ€™s interests and manage compliance with contracts and covenants. Timely respond to clientโ€™s requests for portfolio actions, including evaluating, negotiating, and processing required disbursements, waivers, amendments, and consents. Stay informed on clients and transactions in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean supervised by other Portfolio Management Officers and support the Director Portfolio Financial Sector with the coordination and monitoring of the teamsโ€™ portfolio actions in this region. Provide guidance to other Portfolio Management Officers in the Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean region to ensure accuracy and quality of internal supervision reports and the technical and business soundness of proposed solutions to clientsโ€™ requests or transaction issues. Prepare and disseminate market intelligence and lessons learned from supervised projects to internal audiences. Collaborate with project teams by providing recommendations to the structure and legal documentation of new transactions. Propose and lead actions to improve and streamline internal processes. Participate and contribute to corporate initiatives.

What You Will Need:

ยท Education: Advanced degree (Masterโ€™s, MBA, or equivalent) in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or relevant fields. CFA designation is a plus.

ยท Experience: At least 10+ years of relevant professional experience in supervision, structuring, credit assessment and/or rating of financial institutions and/or structured finance transactions in development financial institutions, commercial or investment banks, financial advisory firms and/or rating agencies with focus in Latin America and the Caribbean region.

ยท Languages: Proficiency in spoken and written English and Spanish is required. Additional knowledge of Portuguese and/or French is preferrable.

Requirements:

ยท Citizenship: You are either a citizen of or have residency or legal permit to work in Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Suriname, or Trinidad and Tobago.

ยท National staff contract, 36-months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement. In the event of internal candidates, the selected candidate will maintain current type of contract. The starting date will be based upon agreement with the candidate.
