About this position

The Investment Operations Department is in charge of originating, structuring and monitoring IDB Invest’s transactions. The Department is comprised of three divisions responsible for originating and structuring transactions in each of IDB Invest’s priority industries: (i) Infrastructure and Energy, (ii) Corporates and (iii) Financial Intermediaries, and two transversal divisions responsible for (i) Financial Products and Services and (ii) Portfolio Management.

We are currently searching a dynamic professional to support the Portfolio Management Division in monitoring, from signature to repayment, a portfolio of loans and guarantees to private sector and non-sovereign guarantee counterparts in our three priority industries and/or transversal equity/mezzanine transactions.

What you’ll do:

Support Portfolio Management Officers in:

Overseeing a portfolio of loan/ guarantee and/or equity transactions. Obtaining and analyzing information to assess counterparty performance, and compliance with financing agreements, and to mitigate risk. Conducting financial statement analysis, analyzing financial projections, preparing risk rating proposals and periodic supervision reports to assess the credit standing of our counterparts. Assessing status/events affecting loans/ guarantees and equity, and, where necessary, disseminating information/preparing recommendations for appropriate action. Engaging with borrowers, shareholders, B-lenders co-lenders, co-investors as well as agents and internal counterparts. Participating in client monitoring meetings and Investment Committees (when candidates are assigned to equity transactions). Following ongoing developments in the relevant industry sector(s). Ensuring that counterparts comply with IDB Invest internal risk policies and guidelines, liaising closely with the credit risk management, environmental and social, legal and finance departments, among others. Participating in activities that support inclusiveness (mentoring, recruitment, leadership development, on-boarding, etc.). Proposing and supporting actions to improve and streamline internal processes. Contributing to the development and assessment of developmental effectiveness indicators. Collecting and disseminating loan/guarantee/equity credit/equity risk information. Providing support to the Portfolio Management Division and the Investment Operations Department in all other tasks required.

What you'll need

You have a clear understanding of the operational work of IDB Invest or similar multilateral institution. Sector knowledge in the industries in which we operate as well as experience in an international environment, preferably in Latin America and the Caribbean. The following additional requirements should be met:

Education: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Law, Engineering, Development Studies, or relevant field. Master’s degree (or MBA) will be considered a plus. Experience: Between two (2) and four (4) years of experience in the credit assessment and/or rating of corporate and/or project finance counterparts, gained within a bank, financial institution and/or rating agency. Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required

Requirements:

Citizenship: You are either a citizen of one of Latin America or the Caribbean member countries or a resident with legal permit to work in one of these countries. Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
