The Climate Action and Inclusive Development (CAID) Department plays a critical part in supporting GGGIโ€™s global, regional, and country-level programs and projects by:

developing long-term low-emission development strategies (LT-LEDS), strengthening measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) analysis and guidelines, including capacity building, supporting NDC revisions through defining or updating quantified mitigation and/or adaptation targets; enhancing the scope of NDC to cover a more significant part of the economy/society; including and assessing macroeconomic impacts of climate action and socio-economic co-benefits leading climate diplomacy programs and activities, applying tools to integrate poverty reduction and gender equality into climate and green growth planning and investments to enhance prosperity and welfare, measuring the Green Growth Index performance to support policy planning, providing technical services related to Environmental and Social Safeguards to meet investor and financier requirements and producing GGGIโ€™s flagship and strategic knowledge products.

One of CAIDโ€™s projects that aims to support long-term climate planning and action is the Green Growth Performance Measurement (GGPM) Program. The GGPM has two interlinked components โ€“ the Green Growth Index and a Simulation Tool. This internship is related to the GGPM Program and its links to the overall objective of CAID.

Can you be a GGGI intern?
Are you enrolled in a Master's, a Ph.D. program, or the final year of a Bachelorโ€™s program? Have you completed Bachelorโ€™s, Master or Ph.D. Degree in the last 12 months? Are you between a first degree and graduate school (gap year)? Do you have an excellent command of English?

CURRENT OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a talented individual to work with us at the CAID Department in the Investment and Policy Solutions Division to support the development and dissemination of the Green Growth Index and Simulation Tool of GGGIโ€™s GGPM Program and support activities, including research under the unitโ€™s workstreams.

The assignment will include the following but not limited to:

work closely with the Green Growth Performance Measurement (GGPM) Team in the process of setting up the database, tools, and guidelines, arranging documentation, and perform the data collection, analysis, and reporting for the Green Growth Index and Simulation Tool; assist in the integration of the GGPM tasks and outputs to other projects in the CAID Department; conduct research on relevant models and model parameters for one or more of the following topics in water, waste, and pollution; continuously adapt the database to incorporate changes and process improvements, and work with GGPM and CAID team to ensure changes are reflected in the website and Simulation Tool; create data visualization for reports, analysis, and website; support research and preparation of publications of other GGPM or CAID programs โ€“ Climate Action Planning and Implementation, Socio-economic co-benefits, and Environmental and Social Compliance, among others; support in drafting and editing a report for publications; maintaining dynamic excellence in knowledge and practices; and, support delivering capacity-building workshops/conferences targeted to both internal and external audiences.

QUALIFICATION
Recent graduate in a Masterโ€™s- or enrolled in a PhD-level program in water, waste, and pollution, or related field preferred. Experience designing, building, and using system models for policy analysis in the fields mentioned above. A strong background in quantitative methods and data analysis; Proven computer literacy in standard office software applications skills; and the ability to work with or facilitate building quantitative models. Experience in applying programming software such as R and Python or Excel is preferred. Excellent English communication skills, particularly writing and/or editing experience in water, waste, and pollution as well as climate change, or human development. Ability to work/deliver under time pressure. Good interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds.
