Work LocationRemotely Expected duration3 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesBackground: The ESCWA Technology Centre (ETC) is implementing a regional training program on green technologies and sustainable business models across the Arab region. As part of this program, ETC aims to develop accessible training materials to support entrepreneurs and SMEs in adopting environmentally friendly technologies and practices. The consultant will play a key role in transforming technical knowledge into structured, engaging online courses. Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will ensure timely, high-quality delivery of assigned tasks in compliance with ESCWA's guidelines. Key responsibilities include: 1. Training Material Development and Multilingual Content Preparation o Convert ESCWA technical manuals on green technologies and sustainable business models into structured, pedagogically sound, and application-oriented training content o Focus on practical applications of resource efficiency and green technology integration o Produce and adapt materials in Arabic, English, and French, ensuring technical accuracy, cultural appropriateness, and regional relevance o Tailor content to different learning needs and contexts across regions 2. Success Story Documentation o Research and identify impactful green technology implementations in the Arab region o Coordinate filming and production of selected case studies o Integrate multimedia success stories into training materials 3. Course Testing and Verification o Evaluate and confirm the designs, conduct pre-launch testing of the course, and develop guidance materials for testing and verification. 4. Promoting the Green Entrepreneurship Training Course o Support promoting the upcoming Green Entrepreneurship Training Course by reaching out to entrepreneurship students at universities to encourage their enrollment Supervision & Coordination: The consultant will report to the Executive Director of ETC and collaborate with ESCWA's project teams. Qualifications/special skillsA Master degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, business management, business administration, Nonprofit Management, Sociology, Psychology, Education, Public Health, Urban Planning, and Communication Studies or related field is required. A PhD is desirable. All candidates must submit a copy of the required educational degree or proof of work experience. Incomplete applications will not be considered. A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in roles related to environmental management, green technologies, sustainability, renewable energy, or sustainable business practices is required. Proficiency with client engagement and stakeholder management, as the consultant will often interact with clients, partners, and stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver effective solutions is required. Experience with project management or involvement in similar projects, including successful implementation and achievement of project goals is required. Proven ability to analyze complex problems related to sustainability and green technologies and develop innovative solutions is desirable. Proficiency in relevant technical areas such as renewable energy systems, environmental impact assessments, water engineering, waste management, or sustainable supply chain management is desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; Arabic is a working language of ESCWA. For this position, fluency in Arabic, English and French is required.
