About this position

The Office of Outreach and Partnerships (ORP) is looking for a consultant with academic background in areas related to Business Administration, International Development, Finance, and Public Policy, Communications, in an accredited university who is interested in our mission to engage partners in furtherance of development in the Latin American and Caribbean region.

ORP is responsible for establishing and fostering institutional relationships with governments, companies, foundations, universities, non- government organizations, and other stakeholders. Built in 2008 to nurture the Inter-American Development Bankโ€™s (IDB) existing partnerships network and further expand its global ties with development actors in the public and private sectors, we engage in mutually beneficial alliances that generate value for all partners. These partnerships leverage Bank expertise, resources, and regional presence, as well as partners financial and non-financial contributions to improve lives in the Latin American and the Caribbean (LAC) region.

The Office consists of the Resource Mobilization Division (REM); the Grants and Co-financing Management Unit (GCM); both located in Washington D.C., and the Representations in Asia (ASI) in Tokyo; and the Office in Europe (EUR) in Madrid.

The Resource Mobilization Division (REM) focuses on outreaching potential partners, mobilizing resources from partners, formalizing, and managing collaborations, and creating and sharing knowledge about partnerships in coordination with ASI, EUR, and GCM. We work closely with the Bankโ€™s operational and corporate units across IDB, its innovation laboratory IDB Lab, and its private entity IDB Invest to seize opportunities in the evolving resource mobilization landscape in pursuit of sustainable development in the region.). What youโ€™ll do:

  • Provide assistance in outreach and partnerships activities such as identifying, articulating and developing strategic alliances and potential partnership opportunities in the key sectors of the Bankโ€™s priorities to strengthen the operational areas of the IDB Group.
  • Provide assistance in the evaluation of existing partnerships to improve and deepen their impact in the Bank groupโ€™s projects and activities.
  • Participate in conducting research and analysis related to targeting key sectors of the Bankโ€™s priority areas, perform market research, as well as collect and analyze data on partnership opportunities and promotion of philanthropy in the Bankโ€™s member countries, including Asia and Europe, and possibly non-member countries to strengthen the operational areas of the IDB Group.
  • Carry out tasks to assist the management and development of new and existing partnerships with public and private players including risk analysis for the due diligence developing materials for events and presentations organized by ORP and/or in which ORP participates, as well as support the preparation of events, internal meetings, and workshops.
  • Support all types of communication activities, such as publications (printed and online), ORPโ€™s intranet and IDBโ€™s Partnership website, as well as with presentations, social media, internal communications, such as briefings for senior management, and CRM entry to maintain the intelligence for existing and potential partners up to date.

    What you'll need

    • Education: Bachelorโ€™s degree in Economics, Political Science, Business Administration, International Relations, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
    • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in analytical and research skills, good communication and interpersonal skills; highly motivated and work well in the team in the fast-paced work environment. Familiarity or experience in the IDB Groupโ€™s partnership activities. Proficiency in Windows Operating system, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access). Familiarity in the CRM application would be desirable.
    • Languages: Proficiency in English.

        Requirements:

        • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.
        • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

          • Type of contract: International Consultant Full-Time.
