ROLE PURPOSE
Reporting to the Program and Influencing Quality and Delivery Manager and based in Country Office, the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Advisor will provide technical support to the Country office projects on GE and inclusion related functions. The position will support the overall management of the CO GE and Inclusion strategy within the Country Strategy in line with Plan International โs gender transformative programming approach. The role will support CO projects to be more gender transformative and provide capacity building support to projects and partners. The role will position Plan International Liberia as a leader in the area of gender equality and inclusion in the country. The Role will liaise with project coordinators and coordinate with program managers and other members of the Country Leadership Team (CLT).
Dimensions of the Role
- Provide support to the development, implementation and monitoring of CO projects in line with the global gender transformative agenda and Country strategy
- Lead on national engagement on Gender Equality issues including Child Early Forced Marriage and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).
- Lead gender equality and inclusion integration of the most vulnerable children (especially girls) across the country strategy, and projects including grant acquisition and management.
- Influence Plan International partners into gender equality and inclusion
- Support Plan International Liberiaโs organizational transformation process in gender equality and inclusion and build capacity of Plan International Liberia (PIL) Staff in gender equality and inclusion
- Identify in collaboration with program Influencing and Impact areas and grants unit initiatives and projects that align with gender equality and inclusion.
Technical expertise, skills and knowledge
Essential
- Graduate of any social studies discipline, (preferably post-graduate, masterโs or higher Degree in a gender, human rights, development studies โ specializing on gender and development or social development related discipline).
- At least 5 years of experience working in the sector, including field and management experience.
- Strong knowledge of child and womenโs rights and gender justice.
- Strong evidence of influencing decision makers, Policies, and brokering cross-disciplinary collaboration.
- Significant experience leading gender equality, inclusion in complex international or national organizations.
- Proven record of accomplishment of leadership within an international or national organization.
