Overview
WRI Indonesia is national entity (Yayasan) associated with the World Resources Institute (WRI), a global environmental research organization that turns big ideas into action at the nexus of environment, economic opportunity, and human well-being. WRI work with various stakeholders in the natural resources sector to support policy and management that are both profitable and sustainable. WRI work with leaders in more than 50 countries for more than 30 years, with offices in the United States, Brazil, China, Europe, India, and Indonesia.
Launched in early 2014, WRI Indonesia builds on WRIโs 10-year history in the country and strengthens our impact on the ground. In the short-to-medium term, WRI Indonesia aims to expand its presence and portfolio to include projects in the climate, energy, as well as city and transportation programs.
As a non-profit research institution, WRI Indonesia dedicates its contribution to the socioeconomic development of Indonesia in an inclusive and sustainable way. WRI Indonesia works in six main areas: forests, climate, energy, cities and transportation, governance, as well as ocean. WRI Indonesia aspires to support the achievement of Indonesiaโs Sustainable Development Goals by implementing various activities under its two program clusters:
1. Agriculture, Forestry, and Land Use
- Transforming Supply Chains and Livelihoods: Our mission is to drive the adoption of sustainable palm oil production practices at the national, regional, and global levels. We collaborate closely with government bodies, smallholders, and agriculture businesses, including palm oil, to ensure sustainable livelihoods and secure land tenure.
- Strengthening Forest and Peat Monitoring: We aim to enhance the monitoring capabilities of stakeholders, focusing on forests, peatlands, and landscapes. By leveraging scientific advancements, we aim to support forest management and conservation efforts effectively. We are dedicated to combating illegal forest logging and advocating for thorough reviews of palm oil business licenses.
- Innovating Financing for Nature-based Solutions: Our commitment lies in financing nature-based solutions (NbS) projects. Through strategic investments and partnerships, we strive to find the most effective financing mechanisms and tools that ensure the long-term sustainability of NbS programs.
- Advancing Sustainable Food Systems: Our primary objective is to expedite the transformation of food and land use systems. We actively support the reform agenda for food systems, fostering positive outcomes for the environment, health, inclusive development, and food security. We aim to align these systems with globally agreed-upon sustainable development, climate, and biodiversity goals.
2. Climate, Energy, Cities, and Ocean
- Climate Ambition: We are dedicated to advancing transformative solutions for climate change mitigation and adaptation by assisting the Indonesian government in exceeding its climate commitments and successfully transitioning to low-carbon development. We engage with businesses and civil societies at local, national, and international levels to drive transformative solutions that combat climate change and enable communities to adapt to its impacts.
- Energy Transition: We accelerate the transition towards a clean energy future through innovative solutions in clean energy governance and transparent market mechanisms that prioritize inclusivity and fairness. In addition, we convene stakeholders from national and sub-national governments, business sectors, and civil society to collaborate and achieve our shared goals.
- Resilient Cities and Transport: We provide technical assistance to policymakers and urban planners, empowering them to fortify the resilience of urban residents against climate change impacts and reduce road fatalities.
- Sustainable Ocean: Our focus lies in supporting the government of Indonesia to reduce 70% of marine plastic debris by 2025. Additionally, we strive to mainstream blue carbon in Indonesiaโs New Ocean Economy, promoting the importance of these ecosystems for sustainable development.
Job Highlight
WRI Indonesia is seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented, and highly organized individual to join our Finance Team as a Finance Coordinator. This position will play a pivotal role in supporting the Finance Manager in overseeing and managing the financial management of WRI Indonesia. Finance Coordinator is expected to manage routine processes to ensure the smooth functioning of the Finance Team with a high level of engagement and attention to detail.
Reporting to Finance Manager, the Finance Coordinator will also work closely and collaboratively with the Grants and Contract Coordinator and Project Coordinators, and regularly work with the Global Office Finance Team to ensure the financial health and stability of WRI Indonesia and to make informed decisions that contribute to its long-term success.
This position will be based in Jakarta with office-flex working arrangement.
What You Will Do
Budget Management and Administration (40%)
- Prepare annual overall budgets as well as annual funder-specific budgets.
- Monitor and manage project budget performance, scoping progress according to planned milestones, expenses and revenue, and planned budget vs actual spending.
- Review and track monthly expenses and staff labor hours.
- Update the grants list and pipeline list regularly.
- Assist with timesheet management.
- Assist with expense reports, invoicing, cash advances, and other transactions.
- Comply with all internal WRI budgeting processes and contract process deadlines.
Cost and Pricing (30%)
- Work closely with the Office Managers to update the indirect cost report regularly.
- Review all proposal budgets or amendments to ensure accuracy in WRI Indonesia's financial presentation and maximize cost recovery.
- Complete revenue reconciliation between Salesforce and Costpoint on an annual basis.
- Ensure appropriate risk margins and fees are considered before proposal submission.
- Support Accounting, Grants and Contracts, and Program teams in preparing project audit reports and responding to auditor requests as needed.
Financial Planning and Analysis (30%)
- Updating the Financial Report Status and Management Report regularly.
- Support the Finance Manager in forecasting and planning activities.
- Assess the financial feasibility of new projects and conduct risk analysis.
- Monitor Work at Risk (WAR) requests.
- Identify and provide feedback and suggestions to management related to improvements to WRI Indonesiaโs policies, procedures, processes, and financial systems, and related programs.
What You Will Need
- Bachelorโs degree in finance, accounting, economics, or other related field.
- Minimum 3 (three) years of full-time work experience in accounting and/or financial management with strong interest in administration, operations, and budgeting.
- Previous working experience in non-profit or development sector will be an advantage
- Able to analyze and integrate potentially conflicting numerical, verbal, and other data from several sources.
- Proficiency in financial software and tools, such as ERP systems, Power BI, and spreadsheet applications.
- In-depth knowledge of financial principles, regulations, and best practices.
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and adaptable to rapidly changing priorities supported with ability to manage multiple deadlines while deliver high-quality work product
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of integrity and ethical standards.
- Ability and willingness to travel
- Legally able to work in Indonesia
Contract Arrangement
Full-time with fixed-term employment agreement up to May 2024 with 3 (three) months of consultancy contract apply before the fixed-term employment agreement started.

Must have authorization to work in Indonesia to be eligible for this position.
