Key activities in your role will include

Objective 1: Assist the Head of Project in the planning and implementation of the Nutrition component of the Project.

  • Mobilize and organize community based psychosocial support groups
  • Support and assist the community-based support in conducting culturally sensitized psychosocial group sessions and referrals of beneficiaries in critical need of specialized mental health services, particularly children, older people, persons with disabilities and those chronically ill.
  • Ensure the identified cases that need protection, mental and psychosocial support and those who require official documents to avail most needed assistance, including making referral, logistic and other appropriate support
  • Ensure the integration and implementation of care practices systematically within the planned mental health/protection interventions
  • In coordination and consultation with the Head of Project, ensure proper coordination and information sharing with consortium members and implementation and approaches and adopted to local context.
  • Participate in assessment, collecting and entering data and their analysis.
  • Ensure that psychosocial activities are implemented according to the established procedures and standards.

Objective 2: To ensure the effective monitoring of the project at the community level and its timely reporting and archiving of documents

  • Organize community-based psychosocial support sessions.
  • Supervise the review and/or establishment of referral pathways for mental health/psychosocial cases.
  • Supervise cash assistance for referred cases.
  • Control the quality of service and activities in the field and report to Head of Project
  • Report all technical and non-technical related issues in the field immediately and follow up the procedures,
  • Undertake regular monitoring support to the respective communities
  • Archiving all the project technical documents for an easy access to all the project team members,
  • Prepare and submit weekly progress report (technical and narrative)
  • Assist the Project officer in preparing reports as requested by the project
  • Maintain quality and integrity of all reports
  • Comply with the necessary branding and communications guidelines of the organization.
  • Ensure timely and quality uploading of project Photos/Videos to the document bank.

Objective 3: To ensure integration and linkage with other sectors at the base level and with partners

  • Liaise with other sectors (EiE, FSL, and WASH) for integration and complementary between projects/activities
  • Support the other sectors of the project as required
  • Ensure and maintain the working relationship with the local partners, stakeholders and LGUs
  • Assist the Head of Project in coordinating activities with LGU
  • Participate in meetings with the relevant stakeholders and partners as needed and requested by the Head of Project
  • Work closely with health partners to oversee registration, treatment and follow up.

Do you meet the profile required criteria?

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Behavioural Sciences, Public Health, or other related field
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Knowledge on child development, psycho-social programming, primary health, Protection Minimum Standards in Emergencies
    • Experience and awareness on mental health situation in the Philippines, related laws and protocols
    • Familiarity with the local culture, ability to develop respect from a wide range of people and strong ability to communicate effectively on health and nutrition matters.
    • Knowledge in Cluster Coordination is an advantage.
    • Monitoring and evaluation of nutrition and primary health projects/programs
  • Experience:
    • Experience of at least 2 years in a similar position
    • Work experience with local government and health structures or INGOs in humanitarian setting
    • Experience in planning, designing, managing and/or providing technical assistance in MHPSS
    • Experience in building local capacity in the health sector
    • Previous experience in working with local/national health structures
    • Significant exposure and experience working in health sector in emergencies
    • Experience in working IDPs in conflict/natural disaster context
    • Understanding of emergency nutrition protocol and UN/government led cluster systems and coordination
    • Valuable prior experience in issues related to the promotion of gender equality and inclusion or personal commitment to gender equality and inclusion.
  • Language: Excellent English and Filipino speaking and writing skills required. Knowledge of Ilocano is an advantage.
  • IT systems: Good knowledge of Office package (Word and Excel) and other software for nutrition data analysis
  • Valuable prior experience in issues related to the promotion of gender equality and child rights or personal commitment to gender equality and child rights.
