5 Steps to get a job in the United Nations

DRC through the Mixed Migration Centre (MMC) proposes to study the profiles, experiences, decisions and aspirations of individuals internally displaced by environmental disasters. The project does not aim to directly deliver assistance to vulnerable People of Concern (PoCs) but rather intends to deliver an evidence base through primary data collection in Eastern Africa to inform stakeholders, working to support communities affected by environmental disasters and conflict. As part of a broader MMD-ICMPD project, MMC will collect empirical data on climate mobility in four countries: Somalia, Kenya, Uganda, and South Sudan. In South Sudan, the study aims to conduct 1,000 interviews in Juba and Malakal. The research will focus on respondents who been internally displaced and have been impacted by climate. It is a climate mobility project focused on understanding the impact of climate change on internal movements through quantitative surveys.

Data collection will utilize the 4Mi survey and an internal mobility tool the respondents (migrants and internally displaced) profiles, routes and drivers, protection concerns along the journey, smuggling, assistance, financing, and future aspirations. Additionally, to specifically examine climate mobility, the study will also include a climate module to assess how seasonal droughts and floods influence movement patterns. The collected data will feed into the climate dashboard, which already integrates data from Somalia, Djibouti, and Kenya from previous projects.
