District Resilience Coordinator - 2 Positions, Machinga and Zomba

  • Strengthening district and community institutions with adequate capacity to manage and respond to climate related risks and shocks 
  • Developing pathways for creating resilient ecosystems for enhanced services and clear linkages with gender responsive and socially inclusive community-based adaptation 
  • Enhancing investments in climate resilient infrastructure for economic empowerment 
  • Support stakeholders and sector leads at district level in planning, implementation and managing risks with appropriate mitigation measures during project implementation. 
  • Collaborate with district councils in the daily management and implementation of TRANSFORM project activities in relation to the agreed work plan.
  • Liaise with project support team at local and district level and provide managerial and technical support.
  • Provide relevant support to district staff including budgeting assistance and basic translation of the project objectives into activities for implementation.
  • Support in preparing draft work plans for the project in conjunction with other project team members at the central and district level.
  • Assist district project team in drafting and finalizing work plans and budgets (revision) for submission to Project Manager.
  • Support in carrying out assessments, monitoring and evaluation of project activities for reporting progress.
  • In liaison with district project implementing team, ensure that quarterly, annually reports and other reports are prepared and submitted on time.
  • Collaborate with other UN Agencies in initiatives that support the implementation of the NRS. 
  • Promote coordination TRANSFORM project activities with district implementing sectors and other stakeholders under the guidance of the EDO, Project Manager and EAD.
  • Lead in the generation and dissemination of relevant  project information such as success stories, lessons learnt and effective approaches to various stakeholders
  • Promote increased awareness of related government agencies to mainstream Climate Change Adaptation into their plans, programmes, and projects.
  • Manage the database of information, interventions and knowledge produced at district level
  • Lead in the integration of key priority areas in project implementation such as gender mainstreaming, technology and innovation
  • Promote evidenced based programming for the projects and resilience planning at district level.

  • Master’s Degree in Climate Change, Development Studies or other relevant field.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in administration and project management, preferably in Malawi
  • Strong communication skills in both English and Chichewa, with the ability to effectively and persuasively present information 
  • Technical knowledge and skills in information and data management
  • Proficiency in English. Working knowledge of other UN language desirable
