As a senior subject matter expert within CIFF's Climate team, this role holds significant responsibility in shaping and executing strategies pertaining to global finance diplomacy and reform, particularly in the realms of development and climate finance. The primary objective is to facilitate CIFF's efforts in addressing critical challenges such as diminishing fiscal space, mounting debt crises and inadequate investment. Which collectively impede progress on climate action and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in developing nations.

Your Impact:

As our Senior Climate & Development Finance Expert, you'll spearhead initiatives to tackle insufficient investment hindering progress on climate and sustainable development goals. You'll collaborate with a diverse array of stakeholders, including governments, global financial institutions, and grantee partners, to drive impactful change.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement comprehensive strategies aligning Climate & Development Finance priorities with CIFF's overarching strategic objectives. Offer expert guidance to senior management and the CIFF Board on finance and fiscal policy-related matters, ensuring decisions are well-informed and aligned with organizational goals. Take the lead on cross-cutting initiatives and projects, bolstering CIFF's reputation as a thought leader in development finance. Oversee the formulation and execution of CIFF's annual plan on development finance, ensuring optimal resource allocation and impactful outcomes. Manage a portfolio of grants, strategically directing investments to maximize their effectiveness and alignment with sector priorities. Stay abreast of evolving trends and developments in the development finance landscape, contributing to CIFF's thought leadership and advocacy efforts.

Requirements

Possess a robust technical background in development and climate finance, with a proven track record of navigating political landscapes. Demonstrate proficiency in financial and fiscal policy analysis, due diligence, policy formulation, and program delivery within the development sector. Exhibit strong interpersonal skills, capable of building and nurturing relationships with diverse stakeholders to influence decision-making processes. Communicate effectively across various platforms and cultural contexts, facilitating collaboration and knowledge exchange. Display resilience and adaptability, thriving in dynamic environments and driving initiatives forward with determination.

Key Relationships:

Collaborate closely with CIFF's leadership team, including the CEDO and CEO, to align Climate & Development Finance priorities with broader organizational strategies. Engage with internal teams and external partners, including global institutions like the IMF and World Bank, as well as developing country finance ministries, to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing. Cultivate relationships with national governments, local NGOs, and academic institutions to advance CIFF's mission in development finance.

CIFF operates a hybrid work policy across all locations, which means employees works some of the time from home. We are happy to provide more information on this as part of the recruitment process.

Alongside a competitive salary, we offer a generous benefits package here at CIFF that includes, but is not limited to the following. All these will be prorated to the fixed term.
