The role of humanitarian-development collaboration to increase socioeconomic development opportunities and other comprehensive solutions for refugees, forcibly displaced persons and host communities is widely recognized in the Global Compact on Refugees (GCR).
In line with this, the Development Partnerships and Inclusion Service in the Division of Resilience and Solutions (DRS) manages partnerships with development actors. The Service includes the team that manages UNHCRโ€™s global-level engagement with International Financial Institutions (IFIs), including the World Bank, International Monetary Fund, African Development Bank, Asian Development Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, Islamic Development Bank, European Investment Bank, and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The internship will be in this team.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Partnership Officer (International Financial Institutions), the intern will support Development Partnerships & Inclusion Service efforts to strengthen the organizationโ€™s partnership with the World Bank and regional development banks.

โ€ข Develop and update World Bankโ€™s International Development Association (IDA) Window for Host Communities and Refugees (WHR) and the Global Concessional Financing Facility Project Sheets
โ€ข Draft fact sheets of the different World Bank Global Practices highlighting opportunities for engagement on refugee-related issues.
โ€ข Review World Bank annual reports and strategies to assess the extent of the inclusion of forcibly displaced populations.
โ€ข Identify policy and programming priorities in the IDA Refugee Policy Review Frameworks (RPRFs) and GCFF Refugee Protection and Policy Review (RPPR).
โ€ข Review internal UNHCR sectoral strategies and country-level UNHCR strategies for opportunities for MDB engagement.
โ€ข Review Multilateral Development Banksโ€™ Fragility and Resilience strategies (including WB, AfDB, IsDB)
โ€ข Review host government policy pledges from the 2023 Global Refugee Forum and identify possibilities for MDB support to pledges (pledge matching).

Minimum qualifications required

โ€ข Excellent spoken and written English. Knowledge of another UN language considered an asset;
โ€ข Strong drafting skills;
โ€ข Strong coordination, communication, and time management skills;
โ€ข Experience working in the humanitarian or development sector, preferably with forcibly displaced and stateless people;
โ€ข A team player.

Eligibility
In order to be considered for an internship, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:
โ€ข Recent graduate (those persons who completed their studies within two years of applying) or current student in a graduate/undergraduate school programme from a university or higher education facility accredited by UNESCO; and
โ€ข Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant or of interest to the work of the Organization.

Allowance: Interns who do not receive financial support from an outside party will receive an allowance to partially help to cover the cost of food, local transportation and living expenses.
