Data Strategy Community Lead

Result of ServiceThe contractor is expected to contribute significantly to the successful implementation of the Data Strategy across the UN System. This involves fostering a well-connected and engaged Data Strategy community, ensuring effective communication, stakeholder collaboration, and the development of impactful initiatives. Ultimately, the role aims to elevate awareness, build a robust community, and support UN entities in designing and implementing data strategies that align with the goals of the UN 2.0 transformation agenda. By the end of the assignment, the ultimate result of the service is defined by the successful completion of the expected outputs (see below section on ‘Expected output/work assignment’). Work LocationIn-person Expected duration9 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesProject Management and Strategic Communications: Develop and implement a communications action plan for Data Strategy community activities, campaigns, and events. Stakeholder Engagement: Work with data strategy focal points across the UN System to advance concepts for better internal data sharing, global data hubs, joint training approaches, and recruitment. Serve as the focal point for external offers of service to help build UN data capabilities. Community Event Design and Coordination: Proactively seek and curate engaging community events that align with the objectives of the Data Strategy and cater to the interests and needs of the community. Regularly evaluate the success of events, gathering feedback to continuously improve and tailor future activities. Awareness-Building: Collaborate with other community managers to plan and execute the annual UN 2.0 Week. Explore opportunities to support or host other major UN-internal events, strategically designed to amplify awareness and foster engagement within the data strategy community and between UN 2.0 communities of practice. Support to the UN 2.0 Accelerator Programme: Building on the SG’s Data Strategy, provide guidance and resources to UN entities, facilitating the design of comprehensive data strategies and plans at entity level. Actively engage with UN entities to identify and support the development of high-impact initiatives related to data. Qualifications/special skillsAdvanced degree in international relations, political science, or related field is required. At least 5 years of experience in strategic communications in the field of data, digital innovation, or related areas is required. Experience in project management and coordination of community activities, campaigns, and events is required. Interpersonal skills to engage diverse stakeholders effectively is required. Written and verbal communication skills is required. Familiarity with customer relations management systems (CRM) for tracking and reporting purposes is desirable.
