7 Steps to get a job in the United Nations

We are looking to hire a Data Governance and Data Management Lead to help drive and lead improvements in the management of data and systems across NRC.ย

NRCโ€™s global strategic plan for 2022 - 2025 includes Digital Transformation as a strategic enabler for the organisation and a key element in expanding the reach of our assistance towards the 2030 ambition. Within the Digital Transformation roadmap, data is recognised as a fundamental component of what we do and how we do it. As data becomes readily available, internal and external reporting burden on staff should significantly reduce and insights must inform decision-making.ย

In 2020, NRC created the Centre of Excellence for Data and Analytics (CoE) to promote and support data use across the organisation, including building capacity, processes and products. The CoE team is responsible for designing and developing data products that improve the organisationโ€™s use of data while increasing data quality and access to common data sets.

NRC has recently been awarded a grant that will allow it to focus on work around data governance and data management. The Data Governance and Data Management Lead will be responsible for leading and facilitating this work as well as engaging with external consultancies to support the delivery of the project objectives.

As a Data Governance and Data Management Lead, you will help bring together data and systems through the development of key policies and initiatives that will enable NRC to make better data-informed decisions. Working closely with system owners, you will draft and lead NRC data modelling and architecture work and define and assign data ownership across key NRC systems. Together with key stakeholders, you will also develop and operationalize data standards / common operational datasets that will set the standard across systems. You will take a leading role in engaging heads of unit and senior management to ensure the adoption of policies and strategies.
