ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT [to be completed by the recruiter]
This position is based in Gaza and reports to the Security Officer.
THE ROLETo support security operations in the area of responsibility including monitoring and maintaining of security equipment in line with established procedures.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive):
- Liaise with local administration, security and law enforcement authorities, communities, UN/NGO security staff and other actors to facilitate access for safe programme delivery and to mitigate possible risks against staff and other resources.
- Assist in coordination, preparation and conduct of field missions including tracking of staff, and conduct regular assessments in the area of responsibility to support safe and effective programme delivery.
- Assist in the inventory control and maintenance of equipment, to ensure its appropriate functioning always.
- Assist in monitoring that all access control procedures are effective and stringently followed by all staff and visitors, to ensure accountability and maintenance of safe and secure environment.
- Contribute to the update of emergency and contingency planning documentation including physical preparations and procedures to support preparedness for the crisis.
- Assist in supervising Guards and provide on-the-job training to support their development and high performance.
- Regular checks on fire safety equipment and coordinate with relevant units to ensure availability of the required assets and systems.
- Engage with the local communities in coordination with other units to ensure safe programme implementations.
- Provide context analysis and advice related to specific area and/or premises and /or activity within Gaza strip.
- Maintain channels of communication with all relevant parties and act as focal point in liaising with authorities.
- Maintain good coordinate with UNDSS Gaza SOC to ensure the safety of the staff.
- Maintain information records and prepare reports as requested.
- Other as required by the direct supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Education:Completion of secondary school education. A BA degree in the related functional area is desirable.
Experience:At least 4 years of relevant work experience.
Language:Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic.
