The Communications Coordinator will develop strategic messaging and create content to support NRC’s strategic advocacy objectives and to showcase NRC’s programming in Jordan.

1.  Roles and Responsibilities

The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for delivering timely and high quality external communications products for print, audio/visual and social media in English and Arabic. The position is heavily focused on content creation, including developing effective messaging, ensuring accuracy, and proactively identifying communications opportunities across NRC Jordan’s different program areas and in support of NRC’s key advocacy objectives. Multimedia support for audio/visual products will be provided

Generic responsibilities.

Adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures. Implement NRC’s systems and procedures at area level. Ensure adherence to NRC policies, handbooks, guidelines and donor requirements. Prepare and submit reports and analysis. Ensure proper filing of all support documents. Support line managers in procedures and require support team trainings. Management of support team. Ensure development and implementation of administrative systems and procedures. Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards & principles within NRC and amongst beneficiaries served by NRC.

Specific responsibilities

Work with the Advocacy Manager to develop an annual country office communication strategy and work plans to promote NRC Jordan programmes and provide strategic communications support to NRC Jordan’s Advocacy Strategy;In coordination with the Advocacy Manager, lead on the creation of high quality external communications products for print, audio/visual and social media in English and Arabic, including feature and human interest stories, program success stories, short videos and social media posts (with technical support from the Regional Media Adviser and the Regional Communications Coordinator), press releases, infographics and other related materials;Lead the identification of new communications opportunities and products that are consistent with NRC’s communications and/or advocacy strategies, including liaising closely with NRC programme teams and undertaking regular field visits to keep abreast of NRC programmes and to ensure that NRC’s work is featured appropriately in various online and print platforms;Regularly create content for NRC’s social media platforms; Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and for NRC´s global website, and explore and utilize innovative and emerging communication tools and new media in support of the communications strategy; Provide proactive support to programme teams to communicate success stories and program results in fulfilment of donor visibility requirements;Provide guidance on donor visibility requirements, including approval processes, up-to-date logos and visibility requirements, and with support of the grants department, seek donor approval when required;Review local media outlets and bring to the attention of the Advocacy Manager any stories of relevance to NRC’s core business or advocacy objectives on a daily basis;In coordination with the Advocacy Manager, build strong relationships with core local journalists to establish trusting and reliable connections with key Arabic news organizations, as well as serve as an NRC official spokesperson for the Arabic media if called upon to do so;Represent NRC Jordan in communications conference calls, meetings and one- on-one relationships with media and communication staff in the NRC regional office and other NRC country offices in the region;Ensure that communication documents are archived appropriately in an easily retrievable electronic based filing system.
