About this position

We are looking for a Communications Consultant to provide strategic and technical advice in communications management to the IDB Country Office in Belize, in collaboration with the Knowledge, Innovation, and Communication Department (KIC) and the Management of the Country Department of Central America (CID), Haiti, Mexico, Panama, and the Dominican Republic, as well as in all matters related to media relations and priority audiences in a timely, efficient, and agile manner, in line with the Bank's corporate identity.

What you鈥檒l do

Strategic communication management:

Under the leadership of the Representative and in coordination with KIC, and in line with the priorities set by the Vice Presidency for Countries (VPC) and the Country Department of Central America (CID), Haiti, Mexico, Panama, and the Dominican Republic, prepare, implement, and monitor an external and internal communication strategy for Belize.

Support and/or coordinate the preparation and implementation of communications plans for the efficient and timely development of initiatives, projects and events open to the public, both IDB Group and third-party events with IDB participation.

Act as the focal point of interaction with the country's media (radio, television, print, and digital media) in coordination with KIC and in accordance with the IDB Group's communication processes, policies, and guidelines, as well as keeping the contacts database updated.

Coordinate with CID's communications area to contribute to the implementation of the communication strategy for the Central America Region, in line with the IDB's corporate plan and apply in each case the brand manual.

Crisis management in coordination with VPC, KIC, and CID Management, proactively perform communication risk identification and management, specific crisis management and message development in accordance with corporate guidelines.

Advise and support the Representative and office staff in social media management, consistent with corresponding corporate policies (AM-325) and guidelines prepared by KIC, which includes external publications, branding, blogging, social media, and dissemination of public information in different channels.

Support and coordinate developing, producing, and disseminating communication products such as press releases, videos, blogs, and other Bank awareness products.

Other communication-related activities required by the Representative.

Development of communication materials

Write and edit press releases, video scripts, talking points, speeches, opinion articles, blogs, newsletters, and other materials that illustrate the scope and impact of the representation's activities.

Generate content for the IDB's corporate social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter) regarding the most outstanding activities of the IDB Group in the country.

Maintain a mapping of key actors and influencers on social media and offline, including opinion leaders, academics, journalists, and government officials.

Coordination and management of the relationship with suppliers such as communication agencies, graphic designers, or audiovisual producers.

Support the Representative in any task related to the communication and information area, as well as in the generation of content (e.g. events, interviews, articles, blogs, presentations, preparation of talking points).

Support and Advisory

Keep the Representative informed about current events in the country and analyze and report real-time news that may affect the IDB's objectives or operations.

Serve as the focal point for interaction and support with communication officers from public sector entities, private sector, international multilateral and bilateral partners, academic sector, and civil society representatives.

Monitor and analyze media coverage and provide a daily, weekly, and monthly summary of relevant news to headquarters, CID, and the Representation. Include a brief analysis of the current situation. Additionally, support the implementation of technological monitoring technological resources for the office staff.

Provide advice and support in executive communications regarding events, engagement with key stakeholders, content development, and social media management, in coordination with KIC, the CID Management, and relevant policies.

Ensure that the IDB brand identity (e.g., logo, visual and verbal identity) is well represented in events, publications, and other communication products involving the Bank.

Internal Communication

Provide inputs and keep the country's intranet page updated.

Develop internal communication plans and/or tools, in coordination with other teams in the Representation, including messages from the Representative/Manager.

Design and maintain an updated calendar of representation events, in coordination with the office's administrative, operational, fiduciary, and economic teams. Design or coordinate the design of promotional materials.

What you'll need

Education: master鈥檚 degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in communications, marketing, international development, or a related field, preferably with an emphasis on media relations and journalism.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in media, strategic communication agencies, public relations, or communication offices of international entities.

Languages: Fluent in English and preferable also in Spanish
