About this position
The Asia Office (ASI) of the Global Partnership Office (GPS) is seeking an energetic, proactive, and resourceful individual to join our team in Tokyo, Japan. The consultant will support knowledge generation activities that are essential to the teamโs operations.
The Global Partnerships Office (GPS) of the Inter-American Development Group is responsible for establishing and fostering institutional relationships with governments, companies, investors, foundations, universities, non-government organizations, and other stakeholders. At IDB Group the partnerships and resource mobilization has become more and more mainstreamed and prioritized aligning with the institutional strategies and annual work plan with Countries, Sectors, IDB Invest and IDB Lab. We engage in mutually beneficial alliances that generate value for all partners through nurturing the existing partnerships network and further expand its global ties with development actors in the public and private sectors. These partnerships leverage IDB Group expertise, resources, and regional presence, as well as partners financial and non-financial contributions to improve lives in the LAC region.
The ASI plays a critical role in strengthening and expanding the IDB Groupโs strategic partnerships, resource mobilization initiatives, and collaborative efforts in the Asian Region, with a strong focus on improving lives in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) โ all aligned with the IDB Groupโs Broader strategy and priorities.
What youโll do
The consultant will provide knowledge support to the ASI team in the following areas:
- Private Sector Engagement
- Conduct research and data analysis and attend meetings to support business acceleration efforts between Japanese private sector entities and counterparts in the LAC region.
- Coordinate with the Productivity, Trade, and Innovation (PTI) Sector to align initiatives and share relevant knowledge.
- University Collaboration
- Serve as a liaison with universities in Japan, Korea and LAC region to support recruitment efforts.
- Promote information exchange and collaboration opportunities between academic institutions and IDB Group.
- Event Support and Outreach
- Assist in organizing ASI-led knowledge sharing activities, including workshops, seminars, conferences focused on LAC cooperation.
- Provide logistical and operational support for the IDB-Japan 50th Anniversary Event scheduled in the next year.
What you'll need
โข Education: Bachelorโs degree (or equivalent) in business administration, finance, international relations, engineering or related field.
- Experience: Minimum of two years of relevant professional experience, preferably in business administration.
- Languages: Proficiency in English and Spanish (spoken and written) is required. Additional knowledge of Japanese and/or Korean is preferable.
Requirements
- Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents
- Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
Type of contract and duration
International consultant Full-Time, 12 months (up to 36 months).
