About this position

We are looking for a motivated, high-performance person with teamwork skills to fill the position of Climate Change Operational Consultant in Brazil.
As a Climate Change Operational Consultant, you will promote and deliver mainstreaming of climate change mitigation and adaptation as well as sustainability considerations in IDB operations across all sectors, while ensuring compatibility with the goals of the Paris Agreement (AP). Likewise, you will support stakeholdersโ€™ management and the development of capacities to advance the public policy dialogue around the implementation of Brazilโ€™s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) and National Adaptation Plan (NAP). All this with the aim of facilitating a better understanding of the opportunities and risks of climate change in relevant sectors, and enhance development effectiveness.

This team is responsible for advising IDB management and developing policies, strategies, operational guidelines, and programs on issues relevant to the sector, as well as related areas. In addition, CSD carries out relevant sector research, analytical work, sector practices and case studies on climate change and sustainability. As a division of CSD, CSD/CCS provides support in the mainstreaming of climate change and biodiversity, and sustainability in: (i) operations of the IDB Group and (ii) the dialogue with the regional member countries of the IDB Group, through support to the ministries of environment, planning, and economy and finance of the region. Both axes share the objective of strengthening climate policy at the subnational, national, and regional levels. In addition, CSD/CCS provides technical advice, concessional financing and helps mobilize private financing to implement climate change plans.

What youโ€™ll do:

ยท Contribute to managing a climate change mainstreaming program in Brazil that is consistent with the goals of the Paris Agreement and contributes to Brazilโ€™s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) and other relevant policies linked to climate change national commitments;

ยท Develop technical inputs to identify Country Development Challenges (CDCs) related to the transition to climate resilient and low greenhouse gas (GEI) pathways in Brazil, so that these can be addressed in the IDB Country Strategy (CS);
