Climate Change Consultant for Paris Alignment Tracking Operations

About this position:
We are looking for a motivated, high-performing, and collaborative Climate Change Consultant with a background in international development finance to work on the alignment of operations to the objectives of the Paris Agreement (PA). As a Climate Change Consultant, you will support in the application of the PA alignment methodologies and help our team push this agenda forward at the Bank.
You will work for the Climate Change Division (โCSD/CCSโ), which is part of the Climate Change and Sustainability Sector (โCSDโ). This team is responsible for advising IDB management and developing policies, strategies, operational guidelines, and programs on issues relevant to the sector, as well as related areas. In addition, CSD carries out relevant sector research, analytical work, sector practices and case studies on climate change and sustainability. As a division of CSD, CSD/CCS provides support: (i) in the mainstreaming of climate change in the actions and operations of the IDB group and (ii) in the mainstreaming of climate change in the regional countries of the IDB group through support to the ministries of environment, planning, and economy and finance of the region. Both axes share the objective of strengthening climate policy at the subnational, national, and regional levels.
What youโll do:
ยท Assist the process of applying the joint MDB methodological principles For Paris Agreement alignment in new operations, in accordance with IDBโs procedures, the PAIA, and sectorial technical guidance.
ยท Help build effective monitoring tools to track the Paris Agreement alignment of new operations, from their entry in pipeline, to their approval stage.
ยท Actively collaborate with climate change personnel in reaching/supporting common conclusions on how to ensure PA alignment in new operations.
ยท Help refine and develop specific guidance to assist a technically consistent assessment of PA alignment across operations.
ยท Support country climate specialists on technical matters related to PA alignment.
ยท Help consolidate knowledge products and build capacities regarding PA alignment across the Bank.
ยท Other related tasks as required to fulfill the objectives of the role.
What you'll need:
ยท Education: Bachelorโs degree or equivalent in economics, environmental engineering, natural resources management, public policy, international development, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
ยท Experience: 2 years of relevant professional experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience in climate policy monitoring, greenhouse gas inventories, climate data management; experience with PowerBi and Tableu is desirable.

Requirements:
ยท Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.
ยท Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
