Work LocationNepal Expected duration16 April-15 October 2024 Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe UNRCO internship is for six months. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week under the supervision of the Head of UN Resident Coordinatorโ€™s Office. Duties and Responsibilities (Scope of work: description of services, activities, or outputs) โ€ข Support the PMT, RCO and United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework Results Group on Environmental Sustainability, Climate and Disaster Resilience in mapping the various on-going and planned activities on Climate Change Adaptation on Disaster Resilience. โ€ข Assist the PMT, RCO and the Results Group in establishing an overview and consolidating knowledge and analysis on climate change across the UNCT. โ€ข Support the formulation of a coherent Climate Change Adaptation Approach for the UN and assist in the identification of potential areas of collaboration. โ€ข Support in mapping of ongoing and planned Climate Change Adaptation projects and programmes in Nepal by all partners working in this field. โ€ข Carry out any other assignment as requested. Qualifications/special skillsApplicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelorโ€™s degree or equivalent). LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Additional Information- Good knowledge of standard software applications, specifically MS Excel and PowerPoint is required. - Interest in the work of the UN is required. - The internship should benefit your future career. - Ability to work in an international or culturally diverse environment is required. - Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion is required/desirable.
