The Opportunity:
The post holder is responsible for the deliveries of results in line with pre-agreed program planes and objectives and oversee the implementation of the child protection policy in the PA and contribute towards achieving the country program goal of improved protection mechanisms and community practices against harmful traditional practices and violence against children. Plan International Ethiopia has put in place a child protection policy that all of its staff must adhere to and sign.
Dimension of the position:
The purpose of this position is to lead implementation of the child protection policy and program at the PA and/or IDP/Host community. It also is intended to ensure to support and linkages to the HTP and other country emergency response programs.
The Individual:
Technical expertise, skills and knowledge
Qualifications/ experience essential:
- BA degree in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology Child Development and other related fields.
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience in INGO environment, involving in both emergency and development programs
- Excellent knowledge of Child Protection minimum standards and basic principles
- Good knowledge of Child Protection case management
- Excellent knowledge of basic child protection and youth principles and child & adult development and learning
- Good knowledge of donor grants and contract regulations.
Qualifications / experience desirable:
- Ability to deliver quality programs in a desirable time and work under stressful conditions.
- Proven ability to work in a team environment and independently.
- Excellent written, verbal communication skills in English and Amharic.
- Computer literate.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Gender sensitive.
- Proposal and report writing skills.
- Analytical and strategic thinking
Languages required
- Fluency in English language is essential
Knowledge of local language is advantageous

Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)
- Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan Internationalโs Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
- Ensures that the team members under supervision are properly inducted on and understands their role in upholding Plan Internationalโs safeguarding and GEI policies;
- Ensures that Plan Internationalโs global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day-to-day work.
- Ensures that Plan Ethiopia contributes to Plan Internationalโs global efforts to ensure safeguarding and GEI, including making sure that relevant reporting and data are submitted.
