ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT:
The position is based in Rome and reports to Chief Digital Services.
JOB PURPOSE:
In this role you will be responsible for designing and implementing the SAP Landscape and code asset for the Digital Transformation Team as part of WFP Technology Division. You will define and drive the strategy for all custom development and enhancement to standard programs for SAP-based applications used globally across the business domains that the team supports.
ACCOUNTABILITIES :
Define and implement the SAP development strategy based on the ERP Roadmap, ensuring optimization and consistency in development design processes across SAP teams.
Oversee the design, development, and deployment of SAP solutions for WFPโs ERP landscape.
Build strategic partnerships with internal teams and external vendors, fostering offshore capabilities while maintaining in-house expertise for business continuity.
Establish and oversee the support services for all SAP-related custom development. Ensure seamless integration between development and support teams to enhance issue resolution and prevent recurring problems.
Drive the reduction of SAP customizations by rigorously evaluating business needs, challenging non-essential customizations, and ensuring alignment with SAP best practices to reduce maintenance efforts and upgrade risks.
Ensure compliance to SAP standards and best practice code development processes.
Oversee technical design reviews and supplier deliverables to uphold high-quality, audit-compliant solutions.
Lead research and adoption of emerging SAP technologies beneficial to WFP.
Promote and implement Agile methodology in SAP development ensuring efficient delivery, continuous feedback, and effective cross-functional collaboration.
Keep abreast of the strategic direction, profile, environment and needs of the business holistically to identify initiatives or core business process improvements with enabling technologies that allow the business to meet its goals.
Define and apply business analysis techniques for eliciting, understanding, analyzing, documenting, validating and communicating business objectives, needs, requirements and process flows to ensure common understanding, agreement and prioritization between stakeholders.
Manage and motivate a team of staff, providing coaching, training and guidance to ensure appropriate development and enable high performance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Education:
Advanced university degree in Computer Science, IT Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Economics or other relevant field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience or trainings/courses.
Experience:
Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience, in providing SAP-based services/solutions within an international Organization and proven record of accomplishment in ERP Development, Configuration and Administration.
Knowledge & Skills:
Solid knowledge of SAP-based programming languages and tools, including but not limited to ABAP, Object- oriented ABAP, SAP NetWeaver, SAP Fiori, SAP UI5, SAP Process Integration (PI), SAP Enterprise Portal (EP), SAP Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC), and SAP Solution Manager (GSM);
Strong ERP experience with multiple system implementations on a Global scale;
Track record of implementing and delivering SAP-based Solutions to a regulated & validated environment; Experience partnering with third- party Vendors and System Integrators, particularly offshore Suppliers;
Experience of development in an agile environment; Excellent people- management skills;
Flexibility to work with people from various backgrounds and geographic locations
Language:
International Professional: Fluency (level C) in English language. Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and/or Portuguese (a WFP working language).
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
This is an International Professional position and is open to all nationalities.
Mobility is and continues to be, a core contractual requirement in WFP. This position is however classified as โnon-rotationalโ which means the incumbent shall not be subject to the regular reassignment process unless the position is reclassified as rotational.
WFP offers an attractive compensation and benefits package in line with ICSC standards (http://icsc.un.org) including basic salary, post adjustment, relocation entitlement, visa, travel and shipment allowances, 30 daysโ annual leave, home leave, an education grant for dependent children, a pension plan, and medical insurance.
