Position Overview

The Associate, Payroll administers the Foundationโ€™s payroll process on a semi-monthly basis. This individual is responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of processing payroll.

This position is based in Washington, DC (hybrid schedule).

Essential Functions

Responsible for efficient and timely processing of semi-monthly payroll for employees located domestically and internationally, to include variance report monitoring and review, verifying voluntary deductions, employee changes and electionsWill work closely with other colleagues from the People & Culture team to ensure benefit elections are correctly inputted into HRISResponsible for calculating and processing garnishments, bonuses, manual checks, and other payroll related itemsMaintains record of semi-monthly payroll reports following each pay periodAssists in monitoring semi-monthly leave balances reports for accuracy in various systemsProcesses multi-state SUI and tax reportingEstablishes new tax accounts as neededPartners with Finance to submit corresponding reportsResearch and resolve issues regarding payroll discrepancies and processing with HRIS vendor (UltiPro) with guidance from supervisorAnswers questions regarding changes to employee record and payroll issues timelyRemit payment to all People & Culture vendorsMaintaining working knowledge of the UNF agreement process (for both contracts and grants), and when to utilize the proper templates accordingly. (As applicable to the role)Drafting and reviewing agreements and maintaining an understanding of all agreement terms and applicable flow-downs, consulting with UNFโ€™s finance/contracts team as needed. (As applicable to the role)Attending training sessions provided by UNFโ€™s contracts team to maintain and keep up to date with UNFโ€™s current policies and procedures. (As applicable to the role)Maintain a strong knowledge of UNFโ€™s Salesforce database to be able to process and track agreements, extract information and prepare reports. (As applicable to the role)Other duties as assigned.

Selection Criteria

Bachelorโ€™s degree in accounting, finance, business management, or related field requiredMinimum 1-3 years of Human Resources experience and payroll processing experience with a multi-jurisdictional organization of 200 or more employees requiredKnowledge of administering payroll in the United Kingdom preferredDemonstrated knowledge of payroll principles, practices, regulations, and procedures.Demonstrated knowledge of basic accounting practices and proceduresDemonstrated knowledge of applicable state and federal payroll and related tax regulationsStrong knowledge of UltiPro is preferredAbility to maintain high degree of confidentialityStrong attention to detail and demonstrated excellence working in a fast-paced environmentStrong professional interpersonal skills and diplomacyStrong knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and ExcelAbility to work independently as well as member of a teamAbility to take initiativeDependable and consistentGood verbal and written communication skills requiredAbility to work under pressure and handle stressAbility to meet regular attendance/tardiness policy
