Org. Setting and ReportingThis position is located within the Life Support Section of the United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS). The Associate Logistics Officer will be based in Mombasa and report to the Head of Mombasa Support Base (MSB). The Associate Logistics Officer will be responsible for logistics and administrative activities within UNSOS MSB. ResponsibilitiesWithin delegated authority, the Associate Logistics Officer, will be responsible for the following duties: โ€ข Provides logistics support to ongoing air, land, sea, or rail operations in the area. โ€ข Identifies, mobilizes resources, implements and reports on special logistics operations. โ€ข Drafts and coordinates logistics reports, plans and other documents supporting the implementation of logistics operations, as directed by Head of Unit or Section Chief. โ€ข Drafts and coordinates inputs to logistics reports, presentations, briefing notes, and other information documents required by the management. โ€ข Liaises and coordinates logistics support with other mission components, such as Military, Police, Security, and substantive offices. โ€ข Ensures that accurate and complete accounting, reporting and internal control systems are functioning and that all relevant records are maintained. โ€ข Liaises and coordinates logistics operations with other Units /Sections within the Mission, such as Transport Section, Rations Unit, Movement Control Section, Procurement Section, Centralized Warehousing Section, and Property Disposal Unit (PDU). โ€ข Manages internal accounting and administrative controls and contingent rations. โ€ข Manages the receiving, inspection and review of Purchases Orders (Pos) and bills of landing for rations and any Petroleum and Oil Lubricants (POL) products delivered at Mombasa Support Base (MSB). โ€ข Performs other related duties as required. Work ExperienceA minimum of two (02) years of progressively responsible experience in land or air transport, logistics operations in military, commercial or international organizations, or related area is required. Experience in contracts management in a public sector organization or the United Nations Common system or a comparable organization is desirable. Experience in applying Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR-P) in logistics and supply chain related fields is desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required.
