Terms of ReferenceGENERAL BACKGROUND OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The Internal Communications team facilitates global discussions on issues core to our work, shapes our organizational culture and aims to improve our work experience by connecting us more closely to each other and our mandate. Their objective is to inform, engage and unite colleagues.
The team sits within the Digital Service, which advises and supports teams throughout UNHCR in using digital channels to engage with the people we serve, external audiences and colleagues for better protection, inclusion, solutions, collaboration, and resource mobilization.
The Digital Service is one of the six sections of UNHCRโs Division of External Relations (DER). The Division drives efforts to generate empathy for refugees and encourage personal and public engagement in their favour. It comprises more than 700 colleagues globally.
Homebased and working under the direct supervision of the Internal Communications Officer until 31 December 2024 (possibility of extension until 31 Aug 2025), the Assoc. Internal Communications Individual contractor supports the implementation of the internal communications strategy in collaboration with, & support of, colleagues across the globe.
CONTACT ARRANGEMENT: Home-based, full-time, 100%
CONTRACT DURATION: 01 September to 31 December 2024 with possibility of extension until 31 August 2025
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are looking for a dynamic, creative and tech-savvy individual contractor who has experience in copywriting, storytelling, communications, with graphic design capacity, to support the day-to-day implementation of the internal communication strategy.
The candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced, international, diverse and reactive environment, have the skills and ability to support on creating articles, content, and presentations and competent in using Microsoft Office, graphic design and data visualization tools.
The candidate should have proven ability to work well under pressure on multiple tasks simultaneously, be โclient-focusedโ and deliver creative and quality output in a time-efficient manner. The candidate will be supporting coordination of activities across multiple internal entities.
The incumbent must have excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.
In addition to being able to independently carry tasks forward, the incumbent must be a very strong team player.
Internal contacts include all those working for the organization, headquarters divisions, regional bureaux and country operations; DER Digital Service, Intranet and Digital Workplace and Knowledge teams; Internal Communications Working Group.
Key responsibilities will include:
โข Research and craft creative and engaging editorial content such as articles, colleaguesโ profiles and Intranet materials in collaboration with other entities and operations;
โข Support intranet authoring, and update intranet content and webpages;
โข Create communication campaigns for the launch of new internal products using our internal platforms and tools;
โข Produce multimedia materials including animated visuals and videos using UNHCRโs video templates;
โข Undertake any other tasks assigned.
