The International Water Management Institute (IWMI), a CGIAR Research Center is seeking an innovative & multi skilled candidate to join its headquarters in Battaramulla, Sri Lanka, as an Assistant Finance Officer.

The Assistant Finance Officer will be responsible for providing accurate and timely support in the delivery of day-to-day accounting functions for IWMI HQ and regional offices.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Check financial transactions in all IWMI's regional offices to ensure compliance with IWMI's financial rules and regulations and assisting in the preparation of monthly reports to regional offices.
  • Perform MIRO (Invoice Verification) in the SAP system to create liabilities for regional office supplier invoices.
  • Arrange journal vouchers for manual expense claims from regional offices.
  • Post fund transfer vouchers to the system.
  • Assist in checking regional office month-end reports, bank reconciliation statements, and cash counts.
  • Assist in the preparation of cash flow statements using regional office cash outflow information.
  • Assist in donor audits and annual audits.
  • Maintain complete and accurate supporting documents for all regional offices.
  • Undertake any other tasks in the finance department based on priority.

    Requirements

    EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

    Essential,

  • Bachelor\u2019s degree or recognized Higher National Diploma in accountancy, finance, or a related discipline.
Part-professional qualification obtained from one of the following institutes, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL) Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Minimum of 01 year of accounting experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Essential,

Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate financial reports. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Package with the ability to analyze and reconcile figures. Strong teamwork and coordination skills for collaborating with other departments. Capability to effectively manage and prioritize a diverse workload while meeting deadlines. Excellent oral and written language skills in English, including effective listening and strong verbal and written communication abilities.

Desirable,

Proficiency in SAP ERP will be an added advantage.

This is a nationally recruited position and only Sri Lankan nationals will be considered. IWMI offers a competitive salary and benefits package, inclusive of health insurance, life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, and long-term disability coverage. The duration of the contract will initially be for a period of three years with the possibility of extension.
