Result of ServiceThe objective of the Individual Contractorโ€™s (IC) assignment is to render services as an Assembly and Binding Equipment Operator and to assist with the document distribution at the Reproduction Unit. Work LocationUN House - ESCWA Expected duration6 Months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis position is located within the Conference Management Section (CMS), Resource Management and Service Development Division (RMSDD) of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA). The Assembly and Binding Equipment Operator will report directly to the Assistant Documents Management Officer and under the overall guidance of Chief, CMS. The Individual Contractor is required to undertake the following tasks: โ€ข Checking up on all machines and making sure all functions are smooth and operational; โ€ข Lubricating and cleaning all machines and changing any malfunctioning or old parts; โ€ข Reporting on any malfunction that may be expected on the short- or medium-term; โ€ข Keep all machines in an operational state and improve their performance on the short- and medium-term; โ€ข Collect signed proofs and distribute products to other UN entities. Qualifications/special skillsA high school diploma or equivalent is required. All candidates must submit a copy of their educational degree. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. A minimum of 3 years of experience in all binding and finishing techniques is required. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; and Arabic is a working language of ESCWA. For this position, fluency in Arabic is required. Knowledge of English and French is desirable. Note: โ€œFluencyโ€ equals a rating of โ€˜fluentโ€™ in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and โ€œKnowledge ofโ€ equals a rating of โ€˜confidentโ€™ in two of the four areas.
