Application Support Manager

Chemonics seeks an application support manager to join our Finance Systems team. This position is responsible for the day-to-day administration, management and support of financial systems and software, which may include, but is not limited to, accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, timekeeping, expense reporting, allowances processing, custom reporting, and database management. The manager also coordinates with the Information Technology (IT) division and external vendors to maintain and upgrade relevant software packages. Responsibilities include:

  • Provides day-to-day support for Chemonics’ financial systems

  • Troubleshoots system and user issues

  • Oversees all aspects of system integration, data-feeds, synchronization of data, and data integrity

  • Tests software and keeps track of system bugs. Manages vendor relationships

  • Develops, designs, and enhances custom SQL, SSRS, Jasper, and Microsoft Access reports. Pulls data from various systems to create government census reports

  • Evaluates existing financial systems to improve inefficiencies and automate tasks. Collaborates with the Digital Transformation team to streamline current processes and facilitate data migration

  • Serves as the liaison between the Finance & Accounting, IT, and Human Resources divisions on issues related to hardware support, integration and data integrity

  • Works with IT to roll out new financial systems and upgrade existing systems including designing, testing, training, and developing documentation

  • Participates in the development of the department’s strategic plans, training materials, and tools

  • Effectively trains and mentors staff on Chemonics tools and systems

  • Supervises, develops, and evaluates assigned staff. Ensures that staff members receive regular constructive performance feedback, prompt resolution of problems, and time and opportunity to grow professionally

  • Defines team roles and responsibilities clearly and concisely, promotes strategies for effective teamwork and leadership development, and cultivates collaborative working relationships across the company

  • Fosters and demonstrates a workplace inclusive of creating opportunity, serving others, building trust, innovation and exceeding expectations

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, or a related field required

  • Minimum three years’ professional experience supporting financial systems or other management information systems required

  • Ability to develop complex SQL queries utilizing SQL and SSRS required

  • Experience providing support to end users required

  • Knowledge of database design, ability to read system maps, or other general knowledge of systems mechanisms required

  • Strong knowledge of MS Office applications required

  • Experience with SQL-based accounting systems, Microsoft Dynamics AX, and/or Oracle Cloud preferred

  • Experience with system integrations preferred

  • Supervisory experience preferred

  • Knowledge of company’s main client and its operations preferred

  • Knowledge of federal contracting cost mechanisms (e.g., CPFF, T&M, FFP, GSA Schedule) preferred

  • Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to learn rapidly on-the-job

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely — both orally and in writing — and lead presentations, training courses, and effective meetings

  • Capacity to proactively develop solutions to challenges

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Strong organizational and work prioritization skills and attention to detail

  • Willingness to work overseas for up to 4-8 weeks per year preferred; experience living or working in developing countries preferred

  • Foreign language fluency desired

  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
