THE OPPORTUNITY
Plan International Pilipinas Foundation Inc. is currently implementing a project entitled: Strengthening Structures for Anticipatory Humanitarian Action for Gender-responsive and Inclusive Disaster Management in the Philippines.
The project aims to establish and empower the participation of youth and children in all diversity, their families, and communities to anticipate the potential negative impacts of disaster in the development of forecast-based early action. It will involve the local government units and their existing mechanisms to identify risks, strengthen their early warning system, and establish flexible financing to enable anticipatory action for tropical storms and flooding, with a particular focus on gender equality, inclusion, protection, and sexual and reproductive health and rights.
In line with this project, we invite competent, experienced, and committed professionals to fill the following position.
The Advocacy and Communications Officer will support the development and production of multimedia content, management of digital and web activities, and integration of content into the implementation of communication and visibility strategies across the project.
Further, as the Advocacy and Communications Officer:
You will implement the communications plan for the project. You will lead the conceptualization, planning, and execution of communications and advocacy activities for the project's key advocacies and campaigns. You will support the organization's development and implementation of the updated Philippine brand strategy. You will co-organize high-visibility events. You will support the development of case stories or stories of change for digital media and reporting purposes. Plan International Pilipinas is a development and humanitarian organization. In exceptional cases, you will be asked to support emergency response activities in the communities in your assigned covered areas.
DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?
To be successful in the role you will need among other things:
Graduate with a degree in communication, development communication, journalism, or any related course. At least one year of experience in social media and web writing, content development and production, and maintaining social media accounts (especially Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter) and websites. Good understanding of new and evolving technologies and digital platforms. Proficiency in using design and video editing software and tools is a plus. Previous development sector experience in a similar role is highly desirable. Flexible and has a good command of oral and written English and good human relations. This role requires fieldwork. Applicant must be open and able to conduct fieldwork in areas covered by the project. Applicants must be based in the Philippines and Filipino nationals.
