About this position
We are looking for an Accounting Consultant to join our MFG team. You will participate in (i) preparing the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the IDBโs main funds, ensuring the Bankโs compliance with standards established by authoritative accounting standards setters in the United States, (ii) reconciliation and analyses of cash and interfund transactions, as well as (iii) general administrative accounts accrual/expense analyses.
You will work in the MFG team part of the Accounting Division within the Finance Department. The Main Funds Financial Reporting, Cash and Administrative Accounts Group (MFG) prepares the Bankโs Main Funds (Ordinary Capital - ORC, Intermediate Financing Facility Account - IFF and IDB Grant Facility - GRF) financial statements; oversees the accounting activities for payroll, fixed assets, administrative accounts and cash reconciliations, and manages the General Ledger system.
What youโll do:
- Participate in the cash reconciliation process, perform research and assist on the disposition of adjustments, including coordinating with other departments of the Bank and country offices.
- Perform the reconciliation of certain administrative, payroll or pension related accounts.
- Participate in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with U.S. GAAP.
- Identify gaps based on best practices and recommends changes to the Bankโs financial reporting procedures to improve the accounting and reporting process.
- Develop, document, and implement new procedures to meet accounting/reporting requirements.
- Prepare ad-hoc financial/accounting reports, analyses and reconciliations as required.
- Assist in the financial reporting process and other projects, as requested by the Head of MFG or the Chief of the Accounting Division.
What you'll need
- Education: Bachelorโs degree in Accounting. Masterโs in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance, preferred .
- Experience: At least 2 years of progressive experience Accounting. Work experience in a multilateral institution and/or a Big 4 accounting firm. Solid knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles in the USA.
- Strong experience and solid knowledge in cash and accounts reconciliations, and/or the preparation of financial statements and other aspects of a complex financial reporting process, including interfaces with electronic systems of accounting information.
- Experience in SAP preferred
- Languages: Proficiency in English and one of the other Bank official languages (Spanish, French or Portuguese) is required.

Requirements:
- Citizenship1: You are either a citizen of one of our 48-member countries eligible to obtain a valid residency or legal permit to work in one of our countries without the need for sponsorship by the IDB.
- Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
- Remote Modality: The selected candidate will not provide services from the Bankโs office and will not be provided a physical space on the premises of the Bankโs Country Office. The candidate selected will be responsible for setting up the space, and for having the equipment, internet, and phone accesses to accomplish these TORs, outside the Bankโs office. Access to the Bankโs systems will be arranged in coordination with the Bank.
