Org. Setting and Reporting
This internship is located in the Project Management Office (PMO) of the United Nations Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT). The intern will work with the Communications & Outreach Unit (COU) under PMO. The internship is UNPAID and full-time (five days per week for 35 hours), for a minimum duration of three (3) months and can be extended up to six (6) months. Interns will work under the supervision of the COU Team Lead.
In light of the current flexible work arrangements, the selected intern may have the option to telecommute for 3 days of the internship. Compliance with UN cybersecurity rules and regulations will be mandatory (ST/SGB/2004/15).
The intern will provide support to the OICT Communications team to promote the work of OICT and it’s personnel by producing engaging multimedia content. Examples of duties to be performed will include any or all of the following:
• Videography support:
o Create short videos for OICT projects, initiatives and teams for social media coverage
o Assist with production of supporting graphics incl. social media assets
o Provide script writing/editing support
• Post-production of acquired footage:
o Edit videos to create a final version for publishing on OICT social media
o Optimize graphics and video content for web and social media platforms
• Assist in other ad-hoc activities as instructed
• Propose new ideas and suggestions for improving media coverage
• Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat), iMovie or any online video making/editing tool
• Office 365 Tools
• Knowledge of SharePoint Online Platform
• Knowledge of Drupal Platform
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met.
• Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
(a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
(b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or
(c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation;
• Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
• Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views;
• Have demonstrated intention to study further or work in a field relevant to the work: Marketing, Communications or related discipline.
• Be computer literate in standard software applications; Proficiency in using new technologies, web-based platforms; familiarity with SharePoint is a plus
• Experience with social networking (as a tool in marketing strategies)

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position advertised, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is an advantage.
