Translator Consultant

FNA contributes to the institutional mandate supporting the investment in the development of Latin America and the Caribbean region through the services provided by its teams. The Finance and Administration Department (FNA) needs to deliver a series of documents related to financial products, PowerPoint presentations, and briefings that require translation.
About this position:
IDB Invest is looking for a skilled translator to translate several โdeliverablesโ from English to Spanish and Spanish to English depending on the need. The content of the material will be provided on a case-by-case scenario, and sometimes, there will be scenarios where the turnaround will be less than 24 hours. Under the PEC Retainer consultancy, the deliverables and payments for each translation requested are subject to what is hereby agreed to.
What youโll do:
The selected candidate will:
Translate the provided documents from English to Spanish and Spanish to English depending on the need, ensuring that the translation is consistent with the grammatical structure and terminology used throughout the document.
Deliverables:
- Each deliverable requires a 24 โ 48 hours turnaround time, depending on the complexity and length, starting from the date the original document is released and requested for translation. The deliverables are required to be returned in electronic file format, in either Word or PowerPoint templates, and should be delivered in the same format.
Payment Schedule:
- Before sending the invoice, the final version of the document should be received and approved by the supervisor. The invoice should contain the details of the work done and the number of words translated.
- Payments will be made once the final version of the document has been received and approved.
What youโll need:
- Education: Bachelorโs degree in translation studies or linguistics.
- Experience: at least 2 years of relevant experience in translation or related field of Linguistics.
- Languages: Fluency in reading and writing in English and Spanish
- Skills: Experience performing financial reporting translations for the IDB Group or other multilateral banks is preferred.

- Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

- Type of contract: Products and External Services Consultant PEC, retainer.
- Length of contract: 10 months
