Your team
Within the The European Green Sky Directorate, the EUROCONTROL Innovation Hub (EIH) carries out research, innovation and simulation activities to help improve European aviation performance, safety and sustainability, bridging the gap between R&D and operations. The EIH also addresses emerging new technologies as well as deployment of drones and urban air mobility systems.

You will be assigned to the Engineering Centre of Expertise (CoE) and have the opportunity to develop software for ongoing or new projects, either into existing software development teams or in autonomy, within one of the following EIH programmes:

The EUROCONTROL Innovation Hub is seeking Software Developers who have experience in either backend development or full-stack development, within the scope of the mentioned programmes. The short video will provide information about the Software Developer position.
Your role
Your role will be to:
Design, develop and implement front-end and backend software in the scope of EUROCONTROLโs innovation hub projects. Participate to projects: capture and analyse project needs in an iterative manner in collaboration with end-users (i.e. airports, airlines, Air Navigation Service Providers) support users in refining the needs/requirements (expectations vs feasibility) identify and implement technical solutions support projects during demonstration activities. For some projects, potentially: contribute to architecture & DevOps develop and run cloud applications serving R&D and innovation projects. Perform acceptance testing; analyse impact of incidents from a userโs perspective identified during testing and participate to validation activities. Analyse system performance to identify potential shortcomings and propose solutions. Produce technical documentation. Collaborate with internal & external teams and stakeholders on relevant technical matters. Carry out any other task in line with the main purpose of the job.Required qualifications, experience & competencies
Completed university studies of at least 4 years (e.g. Masterโs degree) in a relevant domain (e.g. Software Engineering, etc.). Minimum 2 yearsโ relevant professional experience to perform the advertised tasks. Requirements for backend developers: Understanding of server-side technologies: Java, Spring Boot, web services (WSDL, XML, REST/HTTP, etc.). Requirements for full-stack developers: Understanding of browser technologies:js or equivalent, HTML5/CSS/SVG, TypeScript. Understanding of server-side technologies: Java, Spring Boot, web services (WSDL, XML, REST/HTTP, etc.). Understanding of databases (MySQL, PostGreSQL, ElasticSearch, etc.) would be an advantage. Advantageous for both profiles: Understanding of Cloud technologies: Azure, Docker / Kubernetes, Message brokers (Kafka, Redis, NATS, etc.). Experience or understanding of Gradle, Antd, IntelliJ, Linux, Python. Analytical thinking: You analyse information and are able to identify relationships. Problem-solving: You anticipate and solve business issues. Creativity and innovation: You apply new approaches. Communication: You are able to foster two-way communication. Quality focus: You set and foster high quality standards. Ability to work in a multinational and multicultural environment.
