About this position
We are looking for a motivated, experienced, and dynamic social infrastructure project management consultant. As a social infrastructure project management consultant, you will provide specialized technical and managerial support to social sector teams and will advise on issues related to the planning, management, contracting, execution, and supervision of the infrastructure projects financed by IDB.
You will work with the Social Infrastructure Group (GIS in Spanish), part of Infrastructure and Energy Department, who is responsible for supporting sectoral teams in the development of the projectโs components that include infrastructure; contributing to improve the preparation and execution of operations and promoting the development of sustainable infrastructure in the region. Youยดll be working under de supervision of Wilhelm Dalaison.
What youโll do:
- Support the Team Leaders and GIS specialists to include the best practices of project management for social infrastructure projects.
- Create and disseminate tools for improving the planning and execution of social infrastructure projects, with focus on project management best practices.
- Support definition and implementation of the execution strategy of social infrastructure projects.
- Advise and support the inclusion of innovative solutions for social infrastructure projects, such as BIM, Lean construction, industrialized constructive systems, sustainable certifications, and energy efficiency.
- Provide technical advice on integrating to the projectโs planning and execution climate change adaptation, resilience, and disaster risk management measures.
- Support in the monitoring and evaluation of the execution of infrastructure projects.
- Review projects and bid documents to guarantee quality.
- Support the Team Leaders, GIS specialists, and Executing Agencies to resolve concerns about the execution of social infrastructure projects.
- Support the Team Leader and GIS specialist in the technical dialogue with construction companies and consulting firms, if requested.
- Support with the inspection of external consultantโs work, reviewing deliverables and providing feedback and comments related to his/her field of experience.
- Contribute to collecting, disseminating, documenting, and analyzing lessons learned in social infrastructure.
- Promote and participate of the collaborative work with other areas and divisions of the IDB.
- Organize and participate in missions and / or seminars, when requested.
- Other activities, at the request of INE.
What you'll need
- Education: masterโs degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in architecture, engineering, or project management, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role. Certification in project management like PMP or PRINCE2 is required.
- Experience: At least 5 years of progressive experience in project management for infrastructure projects in different countries. Experience in the design and execution of projects with infrastructure, financed by international development agencies is required.
- Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

Requirements
- Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.
- Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
Type of contract and duration
- Type of contract: International Consultant Full-Time.
- Length of contract: 19 months.
