PSI seeks an experienced Senior Malaria Technical Advisor, for an anticipated five-year $25M-45.99M USAID Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health, Immunization, and Malaria (RMNCI+M) Activity in Burundi. The goal of the Activity is to support comprehensive RNMCI and Malaria services at the health facility and community levels. It aims to strengthen the health system at the national and district levels to improve delivery of high-quality RNMCI+M services across the continuum of care; promote healthy behaviors among youth, men, and women; and strengthen the health system to support delivery of integrated care.
The Senior Malaria Technical Advisor, will assume leadership and responsibility for providing technical oversight of the Malaria components of the Activity, encompassing design, work planning, implementation, and reporting. They will supervise all malaria activities in conjunction with other technical leads, strategies to increase demand for Malaria services, and the capacity strengthening approach in facilities to build health providersโ capacities for Malaria services provision. They will support the CoP in providing technical direction for Activity implementation ensuring Malaria outcomes are met. The Senior Malaria Technical Advisor will actively engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the achievement of project deliverables, spearhead internal and external capacity building initiatives, and contribute to knowledge sharing and learning. They should serve as a thought leader both internally and externally in their field, contribute to and may lead internal and external capacity building efforts as well as facilitate robust linkages with all other Activity components.
Salary Range:
$108,000 (MINIMUM) - $135,000 (MID-POINT) - $162,000 (MAXIMUM)
The annual base salary range reflected above is in USD. * We value transparency and have provided the full salary range for this role. Actual base salary compensation may vary and will be determined by factors such as a candidateโs qualifications, experience, internal equity, external market analysis, and other business factors permitted by law. *Candidates approved to receive expatriate packages will receive the appropriate compensation and allowance package. For candidates approved to be hired directly through the local PSI office, pay and benefits will be commensurate with the role and practices of the local office, including payment in local currency.
 
Your contributions:
Monitoring of interventions to enhance malaria case management and ICCM outcomes and promote sustainable health behavior changes at individual and community levels, while strengthening community and facility capacity for high-quality malaria control services.Engage with external partners, PSI departments and country programs as a subject matter expert for the integration of malaria services. Develop project technical guidance. Represent the project at internal fora and assist in fostering, maintaining, and strengthening strategic partnerships internally and externally. Provide technical assistance and/or training to build the capacity of project staff. May manage other technical advisors and project staff and/or provide coaching and mentoring to staff. Time 25%
Apply national standards, guidelines, and best practices to enhance integrated service delivery and related policy development and implementation. Develop content for publications (e.g., blogs, manuscripts, etc.) and contribute to program reporting as outlined under project deliverables, ensuring timely dissemination of key findings and best practices to inform management and donor decisions. Oversee and contribute to reporting on program activities, including synthesis of key learnings and dissemination of best practices. Ensure timely project technical reports for management and donors' decision-making process. 20% of TimeRepresent the project at technical working groups, conferences, workshops, and policy forums, to influence policy development and showcase technical expertise and project impact. Develop and maintain relationships with external partner organizations and donors, though representation of the project(s), demonstrating technical expertise, capacity, and experience in technical area. 10% of TimeUtilize evidence-based tools and innovations to enhance project performance and reputation, collaborating with the Monitoring and Evaluation team to establish frameworks for tracking progress, KPIs, and impact of integrated malaria activities. What are we looking for?
Masterโs Degree (or international equivalent) in Public Health, Business Administration, or a related field.At least 10 years of related experience. An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted. Demonstrated professional expertise (minimum 7 years) in designing, implementing, and managing malaria activities of similar scope and size, with experience in Burundi highly desirable and/or with PMI/other donor-funded malaria programs.Proven experience in managing activities addressing the needs of vulnerable populations, integrated malaria service provision, as well as policy and advocacy for malaria control.Strong familiarity with Burundiโs institutional, policy, and programming context.Ability to provide technical assistance internally and externally. Ability to contribute to both internal and external research and knowledge dissemination efforts in the field of malaria.Ability to share knowledge internally and externally with communities of practice and effectively represent the project externally.Ability to distill complex technical concepts into strategic goals, objectives, and approaches; demonstrate strategic decision-making.Ability to design solutions to complex technical challenges. Ability to manage the execution of complex technical projects or initiatives. Ability to work with teams of technical advisors to achieve technical objectives.Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability. Demonstrate emotional intelligence and ability to collaborate with colleagues.Proficiency in Microsoft 365. Familiarity with a quantitative or qualitative data analysis program preferred.
