AHC is a leading paediatric health care organisation with a mission of improving health care for all Cambodian children. This is reflected through provision of specialist paediatric health services that often cannot be found elsewhere, while building the capacity of health workers from throughout Cambodia to enact quality paediatric care. AHC has provided over 2 million medical treatments to children from across the country, but our impact is felt far beyond our hospital walls as we strengthen the healthcare system through innovative and effective programs that address todayโ€™s child health challenges. To help facilitate this and build upon our existing work, we are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our dynamic Development Team who are based in Cambodia and further strengthen our fundraising capabilities.

The Role

The Grants Senior Officer will be crucial in supporting AHCโ€™s Development Department who are charged with funding the organisationโ€™s US$5 million dollar annual operating budget. Specifically, the Grants Senior Officer is a part of the Grants team which focuses largely on international donors. The Department also works in collaboration with communications, individual fundraising, and events.

This position will facilitate the flow of new and existing international revenue streams and contribute to the goal of realising fundraising targets. The ideal candidate will be able to identify new funding opportunities, design and develop proposals for both new and existing donors as well as fulfil grant management responsibilities including supporting the timely development of quality reports and managing project data. As a result, candidates should have a proven record in fundraising from a variety of sources, experience of writing detailed proposals and excellent networking and communication skills. AHC works with leading funders from around the world to achieve our mission and this is a fast paced and varied role, requiring communication and team work in a multicultural environment and across diverse stakeholder groups. Ultimately, the right person for the role will be a part of transforming the healthcare landscape for children in Cambodia.

Responsibilities

New business (50%)

ยท Successfully identify new high-value donors/funding opportunities and initiate tailored approaches to solicit future partnerships

ยท Develop high quality concept notes, proposals and applications, with a value ranging between $1000,000 - $500,000 per annum, while coordinating the development process with all relevant medical and non-medical departments

ยท Contribute to the management of AHCโ€™s donor management system, maintaining clear and timely records

ยท Provide input on the continuous improvement of the proposal development process

ยท Support the Development Director and Deputy-Director to develop new funding strategies and cultivate new donor relationships including organisation of compelling field visits

Grant Management (30%)

ยท Draft, develop and refine high quality donor reports and associated communications, ensuring compliance with AHC and donor requirements

ยท Maintain internal tracking of reporting timelines, including working with relevant departments to coordinate appropriate data collection, analysis and financial reporting

Renewals (10%)

ยท Cultivate and maintain a portfolio of donors (active and lapsed funders) in order to facilitate the solicitation of additional asks and upgrades

ยท Draft compelling renewal concept notes and proposals for active donors with the intention of growing existing grant sizes

Other (10%)

ยท Review junior team memberโ€™s work, providing constructive feedback and training as required

ยท Coordinate with AHCโ€™s Communications team to develop case studies and other relevant collateral to aid the fundraising process

ยท Support other Development Department functions including international fundraising events and individual donor accounts when needed

Key qualifications and skills:

ยท Have a Bachelor degree or higher qualification in business, marketing, communications, international development, or other relevant fields

ยท At least five years of experience in fundraising/grant management role with demonstrable experience in securing multi-year proposals valued over US$100,000

ยท Have an established network of corporate, foundation/trust, institutional, and or high net worth contacts from previous experience

ยท Accomplished report and proposal writer with excellent writing/editing capabilities and strong analytical/critical thinking skills, ideally in a child development or health-related field

ยท Detail-oriented with good multi-tasking abilities and communication skills, both oral and written in English

ยท Quick learner, able to absorb and conceptualise child health projects in a low resource setting and translate that to funder interests

ยท Ability to handle and use constructive feedback in order to make needed changes to proposals and reports

ยท Excellent organisational skills and ability to determine priorities and meet multiple deadlines

ยท Able to work well both within a team and independently in a challenging and fast-moving multicultural environment
