    Responsibilities

    Job Summary

    The Declarations Branch team is looking for a dedicated team member with experience in the use of electronic data analytic tools with a strong focus on data analysis and evaluation.

    As a Senior Evaluation Assistant, you will be processing declarations and amendments, with responsibility for documents in Chinese. You will assist in the analysis of declaration trends, regarding timely submission. You will coordinate incoming documents under the sectionโ€™s responsibility, making sure that all documents are properly assigned and processed. What is more, you will coordinate the preparation of annual reconciliation reports and transfer discrepancy reports for distribution to States Parties.

    Main Responsibilities

    In your position as the Senior Evaluation Assistant, you will be responsible for:

  • Assign incoming documents to appropriate staff;
Input declarations into the Verification Information System (VIS);Coordinate the input and evaluation of all industry declaration amendments under the supervision of the Head of the Section;Provide unofficial translations of declarations and verification-related information (Chinese intoEnglish);Coordinate the preparation of annual reconciliation reports;Draft and update work instructions and guidance of the section;Assist in the analysis of declaration trends and the preparation of associated reports both for OPCW and for release to States Parties.

Qualifications and Experience

Education

Education (Qualifications):
Essential:
High school diploma or high school equivalency certificates.

Desirable:
Additional training or courses in the field of information technology or chemistry would be an asset.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential:
Six years of related work experience in the use of electronic data analytic tools gained in international organizations, governmental agencies or the private sector with a strong focus on data analysis and evaluation.

Desirable:
Experience gained in international organizations.

Skills and Competencies

To succeed in this role, you will need the following skills and competencies:

Computer literacy: Significant skill in using computers is essential with a especial emphasis on the knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and Data Analytic Tools (e.g. Qlik);Strong planning and organisational skills;Fluency in English and operational Chinese (reading);Good interpersonal and communication skills;Flexibility and the ability to work independently using initiative to resolve problems;Tact, accuracy, discretion and ability to work harmoniously in a multi-cultural environment and create a positive and productive team environment.

Languages

Fluency in English is essential and a good working knowledge of one of the other official languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is desirable.

Additional Information

Staff members in the General Services category are normally recruited and paid on a local basis.

This appointment is for the duration of two years, with a six-month probationary period, and is subject to the OPCW Staff Regulations and Interim Staff Rules.

The mandatory age of separation at the OPCW is 65 years.

Fixed-term staff members participate in the OPCW provident fund. A monthly staff contribution is met with a doubled amount by the OPCW to ensure separating staff have the capital necessary to move on to new challenges.

The Director-General retains the discretion to not make any appointment to this vacancy, to make an appointment at a lower grade, or to make an appointment with a modified job description. Several vacancies may be filled.
