Background
Access Center for Human Rights (ACHR) is a refugee-led non-profit, non-governmental organization. Operated by Syrians with professional backgrounds in Law, human rights, journalism, ACHR advocates for refugeesโ rights by investigating and exposing violations of international law endured by Syrian refugees in Lebanon. ACHR has been registered in Lebanon since 2017 and in France since 2020.
The Research Department, where the Research Fellow will be working, is a cornerstone in ACHRโs pursuit of justice and accountability. In addition to raising awareness about refugees, the department is responsible for investigating and documenting violations Syrian refugees face, analyzing the collected data, and sharing the findings and recommendations with stakeholders and policymakers through its regular and ad-hoc reports.

About The Position:
The fellow will be responsible for conducting legal documentation and collecting evidence of cases of torture and ill-treatment to which refugees are exposed.
She/He will directly report to ACHRโs Senior Researcher and working under the overall supervision of the Program Officer.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal documentation regarding refugees in Lebanon, including collecting information about torture and ill-treatment, documenting experiences, and assessing legal status and rights.
- Focus on violations of torture and ill-treatment.
- Compiling data to provide legal assistance and support for legal proceedings.
- Formulating complaints regarding specific violations and submitting them to the relevant UN bodies.
- Communicate with victims, conduct interviews, collect evidence and supporting documents.
- Initiate action plans and participate in drafting articles and reports issued by ACHR, in collaboration with different ACHR departments.
Qualifications:
Education
BCS degree in law, human rights, or a related field.
Soft Skills
Experience in legal documentation and evidence gathering, preferably in a refugee context. Knowledge of international human rights mechanisms and procedures. Strong communication and advocacy skills. Ability to work effectively in a diverse and challenging cultural environment.
Technical Skills
Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) Comfort with using email/Zoom/ MS Teams and instant messaging as a primary means of communication
Languages
Fluency in Arabic / Excellent in English.
