Main purpose of position
The successful incumbent will support the supervisor in the field and laboratory operations related to cereal and legumes at ICARDA Morocco Research Platform.

Main responsibilities
\u00b7ย ย ย ย ย ย Undertaking quality testing for ICARDA mandated cereal and legume species.
\u00b7ย ย ย ย ย ย Keep up-to-date on developments in quality analysis through the scientific literature, and publish research findings in ISI peer-reviewed scientific journals.
\u00b7ย ย ย ย ย ย Near Infrared screening of cereal and legume seeds.
\u00b7ย ย ย ย ย ย Development of calibration for NIRS analysis.ย ย
\u00b7ย ย ย ย ย ย Carry out assigned field and laboratory research activities.
\u00b7ย ย ย ย ย ย Collecting, managing and summarizing data.
\u00b7ย ย ย ย ย ย Maintenance of laboratory safety, rationalization, and proper working equipment.
\u00b7ย ย ย ย ย ย Supervision of daily workers.
\u00b7ย ย ย ย ย ย Performing any other job assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
Education, qualifications and experience
\u00b7ย ย ย ย ย ย BSc or MSc in Chemistry, Food Technology, Agronomy or associated disciplines.
\u00b7ย ย ย ย ย ย At least 2 years\u2019 experience in agricultural or food technology research at national level.
\u00b7ย ย ย ย ย ย Experience with Inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy and Continuous Flow Analysers would be considered.
\u00b7ย ย ย ย ย ย Experience with protein determination electrophoresis in gel would be considered.
\u00b7ย ย ย ย ย ย Knowledge of food technology equipment and design of experiments.
\u00b7ย ย ย ย ย ย Comprehensive knowledge of associated disciplines with good teamwork, interpersonal and ability to work effectively with multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams.
\u00b7ย ย ย ย ย ย Excellent English, French and Arabic communications skills.
\u00b7ย ย ย ย ย ย Capable and willing to work in a fast-paced and time sensitive environment, and able to adapt to unforeseen challenges and tasks that arise.
\u00b7ย ย ย ย ย ย Holder of a valid Moroccan driver\u2019s license with clean driving record.

Terms of appointment, salary and benefits
This is a nationally recruited position available for Moroccans for which ICARDA offers an attractive compensation package including a competitive salary, medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, five months\u2019 maternity leave, 15 days\u2019 paternity leave. The successful candidate will be offered an initial contract of 1 year, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and fund availability. The first 6 months will be a probationary period.
