Work LocationVienna Expected duration6 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe internship is located in the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) at Vienna, Austria. The position is for a period of six months starting from approximately February-March 2025. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. The intern will work five days per week (40 hours). UNODA Vienna Office facilitates cooperation and effective interaction with Vienna- and regionally-based partners in all areas of disarmament, non-proliferation and arms control. It coordinates UNODA efforts and programmes to provide for and promote opportunities in disarmament and non-proliferation education through online and in-person training resources and opportunities. Serving as a global hub for UNODA in the area of disarmament and non-proliferation education, the Vienna Office offers educational activities and materials for a wide range of audiences around the globe, including for academia and students, young professionals, early-career civil servants, civil society and the general public at large. Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the Media Editor and strategic guidance of the Chief of the Office, the intern shall undertake the following duties which may include, but are not limited to: โข Assist in developing visual and written content for the officeโs webpages and social media platforms. โข Draft social media plans and keep statistics data updated. โข Contribute to the design of communication materials, including presentations, infographics, brochures, posters, banners, flyers, and other documents using design software (such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Canva etc). โข Participate in the organization of outreach events, including taking photos, filming, and preparing promotional material. โข Perform other duties as necessary. Qualifications/special skillsโข Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelorโs degree or equivalent); โข Be computer literate in standard software applications; โข Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and โข Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Masterโs or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have recently completed a Bachelorโs, Masterโs or PH.D.
