It is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all. The Donor Relations and Strategic Resource Partnerships Unit of UN-Habitat is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with donors and mobilizing resources for the organization's projects and programmes. The Unit works closely with other units within UN-Habitat to ensure effective and efficient utilization of donor resources. This post is located in the Donor Relations unit. The incumbent will be supervised by the Head of Donor Relations and Strategic Resource Partnerships Unit coordinating the work of the team, under direct supervision of the Director (a.i), External Relations, Strategy, Knowledge & Innovation Division & Chief of Knowledge & Innovation Branch. The expert will work in proximity to the other members of the team as well as other units, sections and offices across the Agency. Under the direct supervision of the Head of Donor Relations and Strategic Resource Partnerships Unit the consultant will: Duties and Responsibilities The consultant's main responsibility will be to deliver on specific activities related to UN-Habitat's Donor Relations unit Duties and Responsibilities. 1. Produce monthly income acquisition reports (AugโDec 2025) and a consolidated 2020โ2024 income report based on analysis of grants and contribution agreement data. 2. Track, analyze, and report on core contribution pledges and receipts, ensuring alignment with Finance Unit records, and provide monthly report on the core contribution acquisition status, flags and opportunities. 3. Coordinate with the Finance Unit to issue donor receipts and timely acknowledgement letters upon receipt of funds. 4. Create and process donor invoices and payment requests for earmarked and non-earmarked contributions, in coordination with relevant units. 5. Draft and archive official donor correspondenceโincluding responses to inquiries, expressions of appreciation, and information sharingโto maintain a comprehensive communication record. 6. Maintain records of donor reporting requirements and manage the Donor Reporting Calendar by tracking ongoing grants, identifying financial closure needs, and removing closed grants, and updating donor reporting compliance status. 7. Coordinate administrative tasks for donor-related events and engagement activities. 8. Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for issuing receipts, acknowledgement letters, payment requests and other regular donor engagement activities. 9. Collaborate with the Budget and Finance Unit to analyze unspent balances and facilitate timely donor communication. Qualifications/special skillsUniversity degree in communications, Data analytics, Information Management, international development or any other related course is required A minimum of 2 years of combined professional experience in the private sector, development organizations, in the areas of client relations, funds / grant management, or above-mentioned work areas is required. Proven technical experience in report writing on various topics is desirable. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
