Work LocationUNRWA Expected durationSix months Duties and ResponsibilitiesUNRWA is seeking a junior Projects Support Officer (International Service Provider) to support the effective management of the Agencyโs project portfolio. This role requires a strategic and analytical mindset, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and expertise in project and portfolio management best practices. The consultant will be responsible for: โข Help apply project and portfolio management methods to align the Agencyโs projects with its overall goals. โข Support project teams to manage projects effectively and deliver results on time. โข Help oversee the Agencyโs projects by reviewing and balancing the portfolio, preparing the annual priority list, checking project quality, and promoting accountability. โข Assist with rolling out and applying the UNRWA Project Procedures Manual (PPM) across the Agency. โข Analyze project data to track performance, spot trends, and suggest improvements. โข Prepare reports on project progress and flag any major issues when needed. โข Improve project tracking and reporting tools, such as dashboards and digital systems, to support better decision-making and transparency. โข Support the maintenance and improvement of the Agencyโs project governance systems. โข Help build a strong project management culture by organizing training, updating standards, introducing tools, and applying best practices and lessons learned. โข Work closely with colleagues from HQ, field offices, and the executive office. โข Carry out other tasks as needed. Qualifications/special skillsEducation โข An advanced university degree from an accredited educational institution in management, international development, business administration or any other related field. โข An initial degree (bachelor or equivalent) plus two additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a post-graduate degree. โข Certification in project management, such as PRINCE2 or PMP is highly desirable. Experience โข At least two years of relevant project management experience within the United Nations, international organizations, or international non-governmental organizations (INGOs). โข Demonstrated experience in project, programme, portfolio management methodologies and practices. โข A minimum of two years of relevant international experience outside UNRWA, and outside the country(s) of which the candidate is a national or holds citizenship, a passport or a national identity number. Technical Skills & Competencies โข Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (Arabic is an asset). โข Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) โข Strong analytical and problem-solving skills โข Ability to efficiently and effectively produce high-quality outputs under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously โข Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multicultural team. โข Familiarity with Palestine refugee issues LanguagesExcellent facilitation, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences Additional InformationThe Projects Support Officer will be employed full-time for an initial period of six months, with the possibility of extension based on needs, performance and the availability of funds. The duty station for this position will be UNRWA Headquarters in Amman, Jordan. Remuneration will follow the UN international salary scale, with a P2-level salary of approximately USD 70,000 (all-inclusive).
