Ensure necessary modifications in REACH to track project contributions to the Strategic Objectives (SO) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Duties and ResponsibilitiesUNRWA is seeking an international consultant (P2-level) to support the effective management of the Agencyโs strategic project portfolio. This role requires a strategic and analytical mindset, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and expertise in project and portfolio management best practices. The consultant will be responsible for: โข Supporting the consistent application of project and portfolio management methodologies to align the Agencyโs strategic project portfolio with its overall vision and objectives. โข Optimizing project performance by overseeing the project management lifecycle and supporting the timely delivery of objectives. โข Providing oversight of the Agencyโs strategic project portfolio. This includes balancing the portfolio to achieve organizational outcomes, developing an annual priority project list, enforcing project approval gates, conducting quality assurance assessments, and advising on accountability measures. โข Support the rollout and implementation of the UNRWA Project Procedures Manual (PPM) to facilitate uptake across the Agency. โข Utilizing data analysis to assess project performance, identify trends, and provide data-driven recommendations for portfolio optimization and decision-making โข Producing reports and assessments on project performance while ensuring appropriate escalation processes. โข Enhancing the Agencyโs project tracking and visualization tools, including dashboards and digital project management systems, to improve decision-making, transparency, and reporting across the portfolio. โข Supporting the enhancement, maintenance, and operational effectiveness of the Agencyโs project governance architecture, in alignment with relevant organizational directives. โข Contributing to the institutionalization of project management across the Agency by developing and implementing training, reviewing standards, deploying project management tools, researching best practices, and applying lessons learned. โข Engaging with internal stakeholders across the Agency, including HQ departments, field offices, and the executive office. โข Other tasks as assigned by supervisor Qualifications/special skillsEducation โข An advanced university degree from an accredited educational institution in management, international development, business administration or any other related field. โข An initial degree (bachelor or equivalent) plus two additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a post-graduate degree. โข Certification in project management, such as PRINCE2 or PMP is desirable Experience โข At least two years of relevant experience in project management experience in large international settings/organisations. โข Demonstrated experience in project, programme, portfolio management methodologies and practices. โข A minimum of two years of relevant international experience outside UNRWA, and outside the country(s) of which the candidate is a national or holds citizenship, a passport or a national identity number. Additional InformationThe Project Portfolio Consultant will be employed full-time for an initial period of six months, with the possibility of extension based on needs, performance and the availability of funds. The duty station for this position will be UNRWA Headquarters in Amman, Jordan. Remuneration will follow the UN international salary scale, with a P2-level salary of USD 67,978 โ 78,012 per year (all-inclusive).
