The Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to our mission of saving lives and reducing the burden of disease in low-and middle-income countries. CHAI was founded in 2002 in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic with the goal of dramatically reducing the price of life-saving drugs and increasing access to these medicines in the countries with the highest burden of the disease. Over the following two decades, CHAI has expanded its focus. Today, along with HIV, we work in conjunction with our partners to prevent and treat infectious diseases such as COVID-19, malaria, tuberculosis, and hepatitis. Our work has also expanded into cancer, diabetes, hypertension, and other non-communicable diseases, and we work to accelerate the rollout of lifesaving vaccines, reduce maternal and child mortality, combat chronic malnutrition, and increase access to assistive technology. We are investing in horizontal approaches to strengthen health systems through programs in human resources for health, digital health, and health financing. With each new and innovative program, our strategy is grounded in maximizing sustainable impact at scale, ensuring that governments lead the solutions, that programs are designed to scale nationally, and learnings are shared globally.

CHAI has launched an ambitious effort to scale-up access to treatment for oral rehydration solution (ORS) and zinc. Working with the governments and leading global institutions, CHAIโ€™s Essential Medicines team is supporting intensified efforts at both global and country levels to plan, resource, and implement effective interventions for scaling-up access to ORS/zinc for diarrhea.


CHAIโ€™s Essential Medicines global team is seeking a Manager to manage the implementation of a cluster randomized controlled trial to determine the impact of a door-to-door distribution campaign on ORS/zinc uptake. The Manager will be responsible for developing a system for monitoring the activities of the distribution campaign intervention and work closely with an academic research institution in designing and implementing an impact evaluation, including developing the research protocol, designing the survey tools, and hiring and monitoring a data collection team.


We are seeking a highly motivated individual with outstanding organizational, analytical, and communication skills. The candidate must be able to function independently and be flexible, have a deep personal commitment to producing results, and have a demonstrated ability to lead challenging and complex projects. The expected amount of travel for this position is 50%. The expected study period is 2 years.


Position location is flexible to CHAI Program Countries pending leadership approval.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with team members to design and implement a system to monitor the fidelity of the ORS/zinc distribution campaign to ensure the activities are carried out as plannedCollaborate with an external academic research partner to design and implement an impact evaluation study to evaluate the ORS/zinc distribution campaign on utilization and coverageConduct additional M&E and research activities as required, such as organizing and participating in field visits, developing field reports, database management, data quality reviews, and data analyses and interpretationPrepare detailed oral or written reports of results in the context of the program strategy. Independently prepare and communicate conclusions and recommendations for next stepsPresent effectively to internal CHAI forums and external meetingsContribute to scientific papers and internal report

Qualifications

Masterโ€™s degree, preferably MPH or MPP; or Bachelorโ€™s degree with equitable experience6+ years experience working in a results-oriented environmentExperience living/working in Africa and/or AsiaExperience managing randomized controlled trials and/or field research studies in public health or economic developmentExperience delivering complex projects in a fast-paced environmentVery strong analytical skills and a high level of proficiency in R and StataAbility to multi-task and be effective in high-pressure situationsMeticulous work ethic and strong attention to detailExcellent organizational and problem solving skillsStrong communication and writing skillsAbility to work independently and be flexibleHigh level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word
