Result of ServiceThe consultant will support timely and effective implementation of UNCTADโ€™s project on โ€œEnhancing the Capacity of African Vulnerable Countries in Adopting Policy Incentives and Innovative Instruments for SMEs' Participation in Regional Value Chainsโ€. Work LocationHome based Expected duration14.04.25-12.12.25 Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of the project manager, the Consultant will be responsible for the following tasks: โ€ข Provide specialist technical advice and expertise to UNCTAD Africa Section, Project Cooperating Agencies (UNECA, UNDP, UNCDF) and beneficiary Governmentsโ€™ Focal Points with regard to development of trade-related and industrial development policies, methodologies and guidelines for the integration of cross-cutting issues in private sector oriented strategies and initiatives, innovations and tools for cross border trade data collection and analysis, and conceptualization and deployment of training instruments in the fields of value chains, private sector development, regional market opportunities and other related areas. โ€ข Provide leadership and technical guidance in the management of the SMEs in RVC project focusing on quality control of the full cycle of programming from formulation, monitoring, implementation, and reviews while ensuring its alignment with UNCTADโ€™s mandate and those of the projectโ€™s cooperating agencies and the development priorities of the beneficiary countries. โ€ข Provide technical support and expert advice in facilitating and maintaining strategic partnerships and cooperation with relevant partners in the beneficiary countries, including UN agencies, bilateral and multilateral donors, government institutions, private sector and other stakeholders. โ€ข Facilitate the process of creating and raising the level of awareness on issues emerging in the fields of trade, regional integration, private sector development and regional industry clusters under the AfCFTA. Qualifications/special skillsAn advanced university, Master, in Economics, Business Administration, Social Science, Finance or any other relevant field of study is required. At least 7 years working in the field of project management, trade analysis, economic and social development, with a focus on Africa is required. Excellent project management, communication, coordination, scheduling and reporting skills are desirable. Experience in production of concept notes, briefing notes, project plans, budget and progress reports is desirable. LanguagesFluency written and spoken in English and French is required.
