Job Description

Your responsibilities

The Engineering Department set up a Project Board (ENPB) to better follow-up and manage its project portfolio (timeline and budget). Stakeholders of the board are the Department Head, the Group Leaders, the Leaders of the Sections in charge of the projects and the Project Engineers managing the projects. To support the ENPB chair, we are looking for an ingenious engineer who has strong skills in data science and project management theory and dedicated software.

In collaboration with the different stakeholders, you will:

Analyse the configuration, capabilities and use of the existing setup of CERN applications currently available to manage projects (technical and financial data)Identify the most suitable tool (Excel, PowerBI, etc.) to integrate with existing applications for data extraction and analysis to create an effective and dynamic monitoring of the Department's projectsConfigure and use this tool to compile and publish the project's current situation, their trends and potential warning points, via the webHighlight the Earned Value Management data, the Schedule Variance and Cost Variance of projects at different aggregation levels (WBS) of the projectsIn collaboration with the ENPB chair, support the project engineers in data creation, update and regular reportingSet-up a reporting calendar, regularly call for reporting updates and monitor progress to assure its completion

Your profile

Skills and/or knowledge

The ideal candidate is a software engineer with the following skills:

Documented experience using, configuring, integrating and/or developing Project Management and/or Business Intelligence applicationsMasters planning and scheduling tools and has worked with database and web development tasks in a professional environmentExperience using Earned Value Management in practice would be a plus - Proven communication and negotiation skills are an asset

As an alternative, we can also consider a project management professional with documented software expert skills. In that case, either already have the IT skills mentioned above or a strong interest in developing such skills.

Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.

Eligibility criteria:

You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.You have a professional background in Engineering, Project Management, or Data Science (or a related field) and have either: a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
